I read this book approx ten years ago and was struck by the triumph over adversity. For people contemplating buying in France I would suggest that this is a good book for possible enlightment.

This is an ancient book (1980's) still going strong. Why some authors keep on being reprinted is not always easily understood, but in Ludlum's case, this is fairly straightforward. When Joel Converse meets up with his old friend/aquaintance, Avery Fowler (now known as Preston Halliday), his life is turned upside down. He is recruited into the battle against something known as Aquitaine when Pres/Avery dies in his arms.
