Looking for an atlas of WORLD HISTORY, I was attracted to this title. It's maps are excellent. The religious, military, political and economic detail of Europe and the Mediterranean Basin in pre-history, antiquity, the middle ages and through to the French Revolution are indeed fantastic, as is the history which is mostly presented as a timeline within each issue. My only possible complaint is that the book itself is small and the maps need a keen eye. However, there are very few maps on the rest of the world. China, the Middle East, Africa, the New World - there are very few maps, and many are about Europe's interaction and intervention in these regions. In a word: Eurocentric. While I still say don't drive in France without it, the little symbol for Michelin-listed Camping Sites has been removed. This is a big disappointment for the camping fraternity. I suppose SatNav is taking over (some campsite websites give their Long & Lat now), but you still a need a decent map to get the overal picture and work out alternatives when the SatNav fails, tries to send you the wrong way up a one way street or is just plain out of date. This is your decent map of roads in France!

I have just returned from touring France with my husband, daughter and her friend. We used Alan Rogers Guide to find suitable campsites. Each site was well described with facilities listed clearly and accurately. I would highly recommend this book.

My friend who runs a self catering cottage recommended this book to me. It really is the 'bible' for anyone running a tourism accommodation business. It has helped me review the legislation that applies to me and given me the piece of mind I was looking for. It even includes information in the back about tourism boards and organisation - a vital book in my eyes!

This is a great map for a haulage company. But we have discovered there are several ferry routes missing in Scotland. All the English routes appear to be there? The AA should do better than this.

I own one of the pubs listed, the George and Devonshire, in Chiswick. It is the oldest pub in Chiswick, built some time prior to 1657, and we still trade in the original building. However, Bob Steel commits the cardinal error of not checking his facts by casually stating the the pub is s '20th century re-build', which would appear to be obvious nonsense to anyone who has actually visited the place! If Bob Steel did not visit the George and Devonshire, which is Casque Mark accredited for the quality of our real ale, how many other pubs included in the book were also not visited?
