If you are a fan of history and have not yet discovered this wonderful series of atlases, you are in for a real treat. I have to agree with the reviewer below, that taken as a whole this volume might be one of the greatest history books ever published. It's hard to imagine someone with an interest in history who would not enjoy reading and re-reading this book. It also makes a handy reference book. Wonderful!

I pondered at length over which UK road atlas I should get. Some were physically too large, eg 39x29cm, others did not have sufficient detail. Plus I wanted National Grid Reference (NGR) information which Amazon were a little coy in advising on any of their atlases. With this particular one they were even unable to describe the actual format. They do have a larger paper back version and a spiral bound version, both of which were clearly described as such, but this one was simply described as a road atlas! The only additional information was that it had more pages and was physically smaller than the others, A4 size. This map is the one which almost everyone sees and is good for navigation but is totally incorrect for showing the size of countries and continents. It shows Greenland to be about the same size of Africa when in fact, Africa is 13 times larger. Everyone should look up Peters Projection on the web to realise this.
