This self proclaims itself as being different from other courses because you get the likely reply. Frankly every language course I've ever tried gives you a dialogue. The language is barked out rapidly and I feel a bit dizzy if I just listen- you tend to get lost quick. However, from the limited phrases given: you could...find a hotel.. visit the Palace of Culture. Get drunk on red or white wine or the vodka you bought as a souvenir. Struggling down the stairs in the morning (lifts seem to be in short supply) it's a good job all you can manage is toast, cereal and juice because that's all that's on offer according to this phrasebook. I bought this to learn with my son to keep him interested and this was a very good start. We listen to the CD sometimes only twice a week but he learns alot. I recommend you take their advice to stop the lesson when the children start to get bored in order to keep them interested and wanting to learn more. It is nice to see my son take the initiative playing the CD, read the guide book or looking for new French words himself. The more my son learns he keeps repeating he cannot wait to travel to France.

This is a fun and enjoyable cd set that is easy to follow. The example spoken and written phrases are exactly what you want to hear and see when you are new to a language.I liked the fact that is all seems modern and not at all like the old fashioned text that we learned in school. I downloaded the discs to my Mp3 and made much more prgress than I expected leading up to our visit to France. Highly recommended!

This CD works but you must listen to it as often as possible. It does not have actual techniques for remembering things but it takes away the self doubt and reminds you that you do have a good memory and it is just that you keep telling yourself you don't! It definitely increased my concentration as well. I always listen to it as I'm going to sleep. If you want to know a great book that includes techniques to enhance memory buy HOW TO PASS EXAMS BY DOMINIC O BRIEN I would give that book 5 stars! After reading it I can honestly say I can remember anything I want to! If you gave me 100 words to learn in order I could NOW bet you £1000 pound that I could remember them!!! So definitely think the two work great together!

I am a BEd student on TP and have used this book so many times, the stories are so interesting and my pirate mad class of 7 and 8 year olds love them! The beautiful illustrations and a fantastic audio CD add to the magic of this wonderful addition to or library.

If you expect to listen a couple of times and miraculously feel you are the most marvellous person in the world, forget it. However, if you listen regularly and follow Glenn's instructions, you will get results. I have been using this cd for 2 weeks now, I am so much happier and positive, even my colleagues at work have commented. It is worth listening, just for the feeling of total relaxation that you can achieve (with very little effort).

I like the crime genre anyway but had never read anything by Peter Robinson - it was on someone's list with other books I've enjoyed. The main angle which attracted me was the flooded village as I grew up knowing about the Lady Bower Reservoir near Sheffield which was the same. However, within 3 pages - I was hooked! The dual timeline is so lovely to read as you really come to love the characters. The war aspect was interesting and I enjoyed the setting as I love that area of Yorkshire. It's very well written and I've now bought loads of his books. My only extremely tiny gripe is the music. Sorry Peter, but I have to agree with other reviewers, I could do without the constant references to music, especially as it's not to everyone's ... Read More:

It is very exciting book . I especially enjoyed the part where Timmy the dog 'legged it' to save uncle Quentin and Pierre.
