Being a beginner in Italian I have bought other books which are difficult to get in to. However this book is excellent and the cassettes which accompany them are fantastic. They give you the chance to repeat what is said in dialogues and are very good.

I was given this by someone who saw Oprah raving about it and bought two copies in a state of excitement. I thought that the first three pages were quite good then was extremely disappointed as the rest went no further than to rehash Buddhism. My overriding concern is Tolle's continual denigration of the ego and his attempts to persuade us that if we could just annihilate any sense of being an individual or having individual thoughts or preferences we could all acheive permanent bliss. In fact, if we all followed this advice we would all coagulate in one big splurge of mush as no one would be allowed a personality at all. This kind of spirituality feels very uncomfortable. I enjoyed the whole CD,it did induce relaxation and the affirmations do eventually sink in. I am not an anxious person, far from it but this would suit such a listener, but just using the relaxation from it is worth every penny.

I've just completed both this and the advanced course and I think that they are both excellent and achieve very well what they set out to do. I think that a lot of the criticism of the courses come from people who do not know before they buy them what Michel's methods are about. These courses will - - give you a solid grounding in the structure of the Spanish language - teach American Spanish rather than Spanish Spanish if you get what I mean, though as far as I can tell the differences are mainly ones of pronunciation - give you a great big boost of confidence after only a very short time; you will feel like you're learning really quickly. This CD usually works for me and sends me to sleep. It is marvellous to hear a woman's voice with a pleasant British accent on a sleep tape. I do tolerate some men's voices, providing they do not sound aggressive. But I do not like most American voices, especially male voices, as I usually find them difficult to understand. However I have reservations: she occasionally drops a 't', she uses the phrase 'more drowsier' twice and she mentions 'positivity' too much. These problems annoy me more and more over time.

This ludicrous story involves a breathless trip to Egypt in a flying boat as the central theme, with Paul and Steve having taken on the task of returning a pair of glasses(!) to its supposed owner. Of course being the Temples nothing goes smoothly and within hours the death toll mounts as just about everyone the pair comes in contact with cops their lot in a variety of ways. As coincidence piles on coincidence, this pair must be the most dense private eyes in the business as they cause havoc wherever they go and get the solution more by luck than judgement (just as well as we were running out of characters to play with) Did this sort of thing really keep our parents and grandparents amused all those years ago? This audio CD got an excellent review in The Times ( Barnes's 'paper'), and for good reason. As stated in the introduction, Field Guides can be intimidating, whereas this superb audio CD takes you simply through 50 birds, their habitat, song, characterisitics and personalities, in an easy to listen to, yet informative way. An audio CD's success is often determined by the reader's tone of voice, speed of delivery and empathy with the story or subject matter and selecting Barnes to read his own book was an excellent choice. This is by far my favourite Enid Blyton novel and the one that led to my love of reading. I quickly devoured the rest of the Famous Five series, enjoying them all immensely. This one, however, will always remain my favourite.

This book has changed my life along with Eckhart's other publications. I was very skeptical at first, as I considered myself to be non religious and not spiritual and didn't think I could relate to this sort of stuff. My initial 'though' could not have been more wrong. I hardly ever read books but could not put this one down. I read it at a time when I had recently moved to the other side of the world, then within a few days, I was let down badly by my girlfriend, resulting in a breakup and quit a new job in which I felt was not for me. Prior to this I suffered from ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome after an undiagnosed spinal cord injury. After my resent disappointment I felt extremely lonely, depressed and a failure. A couple of ...
