This is a good book to dip into. I also found it easy to adapt work to, thus allowing for more differentiation. The sheets are big enough for children's writing (which can often be on the large size). I sometimes use A3 copies when the children are working together in pairs or groups. The sheets are generally well laid out with good pictures (well better than I can do anyway!).

Although I bought this with my four yeat old in mind,My almost three year old has enjoyed the work books just as much ,and thanks to her older sister is already pointing out letter sounds in her everyday activity's. This prouduct, has I feel given my children a head start on the road to learning!

I have used these books with my four year old son. It must be said that they are very useful: not only am I able to test his blending skills, but he absolutely loves them. He is forever asking to read "those lift the flap books". The level of difficulty seems to be about right, though perhaps one more book without digraphs would have been useful. I have two criticisms to make, which have prevented me awarding these books 5 stars: they are too short, and the paper is too thin. It is actually possible to see the pictures without lifting the flaps, so I have to be very careful to cover the relevant side of the book when I'm reading with my son.

I already live in France but I still read books which describe the experience. This is one of the best I have read. It is accurate on most counts but more importantly it is written by someone who actually has experience of living in this country ( whereas many relocation books are written to a formula by authors who have very little direct knowledge of the country about which they are writing!). It is not meant to be an encyclopaedia but the information it provides is very valuable and I would have loved to read it before I moved here. It is also so readable and the valuable information is there alongside the personal experiences of the author some of which are very humorous. Only pitfall I can find is that the English words are listed in the back and not by the french words on every page. But all in all a really fab little book with a good price.
