Having avoided watching various TV adaptations and never reading the book before, I was hesitant to read this book. Whilst working abroad the book was a last option on the book shop shelf. I was very much wrong in my assumption regarding the book. It is a marvelous account of live at the rough end during the 17th century. The story moves between London and Virginia and steps from one drama to the next throughout. I was captivated throughout by the trials and tribulations of Moll and her many aborted marriages and criminal capers. I was torn between feeling sympathy for Moll and being incredulous at just how many scrapes one woman could get into and escape from. As stated by others this is also a great account of live during Molls time and also ... Read More:

Books : Sharpe's Tiger
When I checked this book out of the local library, my favorite librarian looked concerned. Based on her knowledge of my reading habits, she was dubious that I would like Sharpe's Tiger. Knowing her reading tastes, I soon realized that the book is far too bloody, raw, and unrestrained for her delicate sensibilities. If you like your adventure stories to be pretty antiseptic in protecting you from grisly reality, this book won't be for you. If, on the other hand, you enjoy feeling like you are there and experiencing the story, you'll adore Sharpe's Tiger.

The year is 1799. The place is Mysore in India. Richard Sharpe is a relatively untested private who is good at thinking and acting quickly. After Sergeant Bickerstaff dies, Sharpe becomes first ... Read More:

188.Treasure by: Clive Cussler

Books : Treasure
Treasure is the second Cussler novel I have read. At exactly 600 pages it's not a short read and it is split into two stories.

The first story is Dirk Pitt's search for the great library and museum of Alexandria. Pitt knows that it exists and what the secret coastline looked like in 391AD but can he find the location in the world today?

The second story is about the rise of fundamentalist groups in Mexico and Egypt. These groups resort to terrorist activities and on three occasions Pitt encounters them and tries to foil their plans.

I found Treasure a bit hard going at times. It's enjoyable enough but the middle 300-400 pages are pretty much dedicated to beating terrorists and the search for the great lost treasures of Alexandria ... Read More:

a truly brillant book, like a cosy pair of slippers in that it's so warm and homely and just draws you into this little community, the characters extremely lovable and having good depth. It is very sad in places (esp the end) others are quite funny, others just touching. Would highly recommend it, esp to women as it is really a romantic novel. Superb
