I think this box is brilliant! Horrible Histories are the best books you could ever give a child who is even a little bit interested in the past. And this box would encourage any child to dip into and find out about the very different periods of history. The books are really funny and look great together in this complete set. I think this is an ideal present for children of 8 or a bit older. There's a lot of rubbish around so it's good to see this good quality item on sale at such a superb price. Most members of the family would probably enjoy having a look at these.

If you don't know this story, it's about a couple of skeletons and a dog skeleton that live in a dark, dark cellar and venture out to scare people during the dead of night. Not a very good story for a bedtime reader you might think! In fact, the story is very funny and not at all scary and so makes an excellent bedtime reader. It also makes an excellent early reader, because as well as the story narrative, the skeletons engage in some very funny dialogue and jokes in the pictures. These can only be appreciated by older readers. A brilliant book. Very highly recommended

What a shame, these books are great, The Author Anthony Horowitz is an expert at young adult, the Alex Rider books and Ravens gate are great. Only Stephenie Meyers comes close. This is the guy who should have wrote the young James Bond series. Come on Anthony write another Alex Rider novel, you know it will be a best seller.

However, when they are forced to use a forbidden beach, strange messages start appearing in the sand... We are only nine years old and this is one of our favourite books. We would give it four stars because it is so good. It's packed with action and excitement. It leaves you with tons of different emotions and feelings. You'll for yourself if you read the book.

Although supposedly a book for younger audiences, the Wee Free Men would be enjoyable for any Discworld fan no-matter what their age. The book follows Tiffany Aching, a young farmgirl who must deal with an invasion of nightmare creatures, the disappearance of her younger brother and her own burgeoning power. All she has to help her is a frying pan, a book on the Diseases of the Sheep and the Wee Free Men, tough and drunken pictsies who enjoy a good fight. Although the book does get off to something of a bad start it does pick up as you read and it turns into a greatly entertaining story. Terry Pratchett is a brilliant righter and this book is a great exposition of his strengths being funny, thoughtful and inventive all at the same time. ... Read More:

If you would like an entertaining read with your little one/s, then any Richard Scarry book is for you. They are all funny stories with so much to look at and talk about and will ensure that the book will be read time and time again. My Godparents bought me 2 Richard Scarry books when I was 4 and I have just passed them on to my Nephew (aged 4) and he is already hooked!

If you love reading to your child, do not miss this book. It is a delightful, humourous,dream-like surreal book, with a repetitive, poetic, chanting story. It is (deservedly) a children's classic.
