If this is an OU set book for your course, don't buy it. It just states the obvious and is a pretty dull book. If you have having problems learning the language then speak to your tutor. I bought it because it was a set book for my language course but it'll be in my paper recycling bin soon. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

I certainly recommend the book and CDs to anyone looking to learn Arabic

I buy this book based in the advise of a friend that is an english teacher and the reviews that I read from amazon uk and amozon US. the book is very usefull for me. I never learn english from Class I learn english from HBO and Cinemax. Because of this I have a lot of problems with my grammar, I have quite a good vocabulary and my pronuntiation is pretty well, bt when I am writing... The problems appear this book help me a lot with that the study guide make me realize witch are my major mistakes and the cd is also pretty good. I recomend this book to all the people that think that they know enough english to not take classes again or for those who already take it but need an extra help in grammar, easy to follow and very clear. The only but is the quality ... Read More:

I found this book particularly good; it is written in a very clear and succint way and highlights the everyday's mistakes that students (but not only) are falling foul.

Some people say that spelling and grammar are not the most important factors when writing academic papers, essays, dissertations, reports, projects and so forth....

Ok....tutors looks mainly for your understanding of the course material. But he/she won't be at all impress if you use the apostrophe incorrectly or if you repeatedly making gross grammar mistakes.

That is why I think that, as a foreign student studying in English, this book has been a great help in improving and polishing my writing skills.

Top marks!!

If you are looking for a comprehensive Spanish English dictionary then this is the one to go for. Its a weighty tome, so definitely not one for the schoolbag, but it really has got everything.

If you want to test a dictionary just try looking up some idioms, some new phrases, and some swearwords. This one passes on all three. It explains words so well that I've found myself spending half an hour just reading its notes on Spanish words.

Its miles better than the Oxford Dictionary, which is really only any good for American English.
