The blurb on the cover of this book says something along the lines of "the funniest book I've ever read". I certainly wouldn't go that far, but after a slow start, this book gets the better of you. Dry wit in generous helpings, accompanied with some more personal, intimate truths. By the time you finish it, you'll be surprised to find you were enjoying it it more than you thought you were.

I always thought that a certain Beatrix Potter was a lady who wrote some childrens stories about a hundred years ago full stop.In fact she was a very talented artist and writer whose name and works have become legendary with the passing of time.The book THE TALE OF BEATRIX POTTER by Margaret Lane covers the life and times of this quite amazing lady in a very factual,precise and interesting way.Adequate photographs and some early sketches add to the feel of that golden age and oh yes ,it is beautifully written, a real little gem of a book.

I had no idea who he was but i bought the book in a Charity shop when i heard about Anquetil's life. He was the first man to win the Tour de France five times; the first to win all three grand tours (the Tour de France, Vuelta a Espana and Giro d'Italia). He was a notorious dope fiend and he even confessed to this in public (Dope tests did not exist in the sports world back then). As well as dealing with Anquetil's considerable achievements as a cyclist, this book also explores his naughty private life. Everyone here has pretty much raved about this book, so I won't rehash it all. Just adding my voice to the rest and saying - Wow! Received this book in the morning, finished it by evening. Truly one I couldn't put down - realized I was walking around the house with it in my hand. You start out feeling sorry for this woman, but soon realize she is quite capable of taking care of herself and her children and doesn't want or need your pity, thank you very much! Early in the book you know that she is going to rise above this life, and you want to keep reading just to see how she does it. Inspirational.

Whilst i did enjoy this book it was not as good as the other books Imogen Edward-Jones has written. Still very funny and a good insight into the world with funny stories about celebs. If you enjoy this book then you will love the rest of the series
