I have read many books from The Odyssey by Homer to Animal Farm by George Orwell and this, this is my favourite book of all time!

Genius, Genius, Genius!

At times intensly funny and at times almost unbearably sad.
All I can say is you need to beg, borrow or steal and get this book. It's just brilliant.

I think this book was written by Simon's brother which was a great idea as it means he has all the details of their childhood - which reads like something out of a film! You can see why Simon was so steeped in the entertainment business as a boy, having met so many big stars. Only bad thing about this book is that it's now out of date - a new version with the X-Factor and Britain's Got Talent is overdue.

This book isn't as promoted a tell all on the Spears daughters Britney and Jamie-Lynne.

The book is extremely short and padded out with magazine style enlarged quotes from within the text and black and white pictures - the book overall probably contains not much more text than a short story.

The only significant section of the book which mentions Britney covers the night of her second commitment to hospital and is lifted word for word from the statement Lynne Spears submitted to court in February when petitioning for a restraining order against Sam Lufti. All the information in this has already been widely reported.

Whilst you have to respect Lynne Spears for not selling out her daughters the majority of this ... Read More:

Rambling, unfocused, poorly researched, and little real history. An enjoyable holiday read perhaps, but those looking to learn about the origins of this great city should look elsewhere. Most of the discussion centers on the 17th and 18th centuries and most of the anecdotes come from only two souces. The author could have taken the trouble to do a little more research! Very disappointing.

Great, well detailed description of the coruption within the prison system! Really enjoyed this book. Could not put it down! Opened my eyes to how how cocaine is made and exported out of the prison into the market-place! I could not believe how people could be treated in such a way.

I've allways been a fan of the band since i was a kid in the eighties and for me duran duran had something magic about them in wich i could escape (when life wasen't so pleasant from time to time) by listening to their music or watching their videos.
When i've read the book Andy wrote it lifted the curtains of this "magical world" they lived in,and to be honest i was very delighted by the way the book is written and how Andy tells his story.
It's a very touching and moving story wich i can recommend to any Durannie!!Well done Andy!Still i think it's a shame that you aren't part of the band annymore.

I got into Jon Krakauer through Joe Simpson books and have found him to be an excellent writer. With little material to go on he manages to paint a vivid picture of Chris McCandless and his adventures across the USA. Towards the end of the book, Jon relies mostly on guesswork as to what happened with Chris, and I thought it extremely well done. The only point which jarred slightly for me was Jon describing his troubles with his father, which didn't seem entirely relevant to the rest of the plot. However, one sentence from the book (written by Chris in his copy of Dr Zhivago) will always remain with me: "Happiness is only real when shared with others". Read it and enjoy.

Originally I'd planned to read Abby's book behind closed doors; after all, a man should not be seen in public with a sex book, especially one with a naked girl on the cover. But after about three pages in the idea of leaving it at home was out of the question. Deliciously candid, often hilariously funny and always borderline pornographic, Girl With A One Track Mind is one of those rare books where the cliche 'I couldn't put it down' is actually true. Highly, highly recommended.

I picked this book up safe in the knowledge that it was bound to be an eye-opening story of one of the most popular guitarists of the last generation or two. Whether or not I'd find it all that enjoyable was debatable but I'm pleased to say that I flew through it's pages as quickly as Slash etches out a guitar solo.

At over 450 pages it should satisfy any Guns N'Roses & Slash fans and I never once found myself bored. It's extremely well-written and as I've long admired Slash without knowing all that much about him the book really does open things up about the guy. I have to say I found myself often grinning at the larger-than-life character that I think Slash has created as much as is natural but I guess the same goes for the majority of big-time rock stars.

Not an uplifting book, this one. But one that hits deep, and makes you think hard. In the end, I suppose it's all about accountability and blame - not comfortable things to think about at any time, but in post-apartheid South Africa, particularly difficult. How does one define and/or justify exploitation? I don't know. I shall have to read the book again, now that I know the questions I want to ask.
