I had just finished "The Old Man and the Sea" (which I didn't get on with) when I started reading "The Great Gatsby", and I'm so glad I perservered! TGG is a great read. It's fast-paced from the outset, and gripping towards the end - I couldn't put it down. I even tried to convince family and friends to read it afterwards; but to no avail. Definitely recommended.

This is the one book I unfailingly recommend to others who want to be more successful in work or life in general.
I've read it several times and still find its ideas central to how I go about things in life. Hence buying it for a friend just now!
Covey makes a compelling (and welcome) case for the substance of real character over the cult of projected and perceived personality as the 'secret' to sustainable success in life.

Having read all the previous reviews there is little left for me to add. This is a marvellous achievement and a great contribution towards making open water swimming accepted in the UK as, indeed it is everywhere else in the world. Congratulations to Kate for flowing (sorry..) text and to Dominick for some stunning photography

I had such high hopes for this book. having been taught how to cook the real thing by mums of my asian friends i love the proper food as opposed to the curries churned out at the local curry house. this book has not inspired me and i feel flat having really looked forward to it being delivered. the series on tv was much more exciting.
for really good asia/india food recipes get one of the curry club books - a gazillion times better!

This little gem of a book should be in every backpackers back pocket. Concise, focused and descriptive you'll have no trouble identifying the plants and shellfish. There has been some comments about lack of information on animals to eat, this is probably because rabbits, pheasants and such are classed as game and will belong to the landowner. Whilst it's ok to pick a few plants, mushrooms and shellfish it will probably be frowned on if you start blasting away at the countryside or setting traps!

What can I say about midnight's children that has not already been said. I would put it on par with one hundred years of solitude. You have to read it to know what I am talking about.

I don't care to get into the controversy over whether or not this is part of this food movement or whether it sends the right message... all I wanted to know when I read it was whether Delia presented simple, day-to-day recipes that I could use when I was in a hurry and wanted something nice for the family.

Totally disappointed. Why? -- very simple: I do not need to spend money on a book to tell me to read the back of the packet of pre-packaged foods in the supermarket.

I don't have anything against the occassional use of a ready meal or a frozen ingredient, but why would I want to spend money for a batch of recipes that basically tell me nothing more than the information on the packaging tells me: open, pour, stir in a can of...

I returned this ... Read More:

170.The Virgin's Lover by: Philippa Gregory

When i finished with The Queen's Fool, i've hated Elizabeth for her laughing at her sister's misfortune. Philippa has deliberately darken the character of Elizabeth in that book. But in this one, Elizabeth is no more than a woman who happens to be a queen. I would like to believe her love to Robert is real, so it makes the saddest love story of monarchs.

Honestly i did not fully finish the book. There's still about a 100 pages left, but i just couldn't stand to see Amy killed, worse, i don't want to see how Robert MUST break up with Elizabeth.

In terms of plots, the story is not as attractive as The Queen's Fool and The Constant Princess.
