I only bought this book when Amazon recommended it whilst I was looking for a different one, but it couldn't have been much better suited to my son's taste. He loves touchy feely book and tends to lose interest in books that don't have some sort of texture in them. He also loves singing songs and doing little actions and it turned out that this book had all his favourites like 'The Wheels on the Bus' and 'Row Your Boat'. He was soon swaying along and humming little tunes. It has become an instant favourite. What a find! If your child likes the 'That Not My...' books then they'll love this.

Given my title, that would suggest that I havn't made anything from this book, and if you assumed that, you would be right. So, you may wonder what right I have to review a cookery book when I have not tried any of the recipes, surely though a cookery book has suceeded to an extent if it inspires you to attempt only one of the recipes presented to you on it's pages.

And that is the main problem with this book in my opinion, it just hasn't made me go into my kitchen and want to recreate any of the recipes I have seen in it, which is a real shame as I enjoy cooking a lot and like trying new kinds of cuisine.

So, does that make it a bad book? For me it is, but maybe for other people it's great. So I'd say see if you know ... Read More:

If you need some brightening up at the end of a dull day, then this is the book to pick up. It's deliciously entertaining and great fun and will take you no more than a couple of hours to read.

'It was the dogs' fault.' The Queen's corgis, sensing an imposter in their garden, go racing around the terrace barking away at what turns out to be the City of Westminster mobile library. The Queen feels compelled to take out a book, choosing an Ivy Compton-Burnett novel, and from here the Queen's interest in literature begins. Her appetite for books becomes insatiable as she works through many different authors, and as her public duties begin to suffer (in the eyes of her private secretary, Sir Kevin), her equerries, under the instruction of ... I knew nothing about the Mitfords before borrowing this book from my mum. I found it highly compelling, especially all the references to the many influential and varied people of the 20th century. It is also very sad at times, especially the harsh realities of the passage of time. This collection of letters has been carefully chosen to tell the reader the Mitfords' story but in the words of the girls themselves.

Just as you start to worry about the toddler years here is the book with all the answers to keep you calm and confident. Very helpful book that Im constantly referring to for different stages of my sons development, filled with loads of advise and tips. This is a great book that everyone should read, Bill Bryon has written this brilliantly with some amusing sections. It really shows the reader why science is so interesting and how various people (with intriguing characters) in history have worked towards some great discoveries including some of those who missed out on grabbing the credit for it.

I really enjoyed reading this.. if only science was taught like this when I was at school!

This is a good book, no doubt about it. It was written a long time ago, but much of the advice contained within its pages is timeless and pertinent no matter what era we live in.

There is some advice in this book, though, that is a little dated. I feel just some of the tips for dealing with people would not work out the same way in today's world with current attitudes.

How To Win Friends And Influence People is definitely worth reading, but I think the reader really needs to analyze all the advice and adjust and tweak things a little to be useful in today's society.

Overall an excellent book.

An astounding book. A riveting portrait of fraility and self-doubt full of drama and pace and tragedy. I have little idea who most of these people are but was utterly gripped by the sheer power of the prose. Just amazing.

I found the chatty style just too long winded when what I am after is to the point advice. But for me it wasn't the rope trick (tying the child's door so they can't open it at night) but suggesting that after the toddler comes into the parent's bedroom for the third time at night, that was the time to use a smack if you chose to smack! And this is the "world's best selling parent guide" - god help us and our children!

On July 4, 1939, Hall of Fame first baseman Lou Gehrig, fatally ill with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), the disease that would be named after him, told a capacity crowd at Yankees Stadium that he was "the luckiest man on the face of the earth." Sixty-eight years later, Carnegie Mellon computer science professor Randy Pausch, who has terminal pancreatic cancer, delivered his "last lecture." Like Gehrig, Pausch used the opportunity to express his gratitude rather than focusing on his terrible misfortune. In an hour-long taped presentation that earned him worldwide acclaim as it spread throughout the Internet, Pausch summarized his philosophy, and spoke of the importance of lofty ambition, hard work and perseverance. Pausch's main objective was to leave a meaningful legacy ... Read More:
