This work not only gives you an insight in Buddhism, it really gets you thinking about life itself.

Books like this one always manage to grab our attention and hold it, as we humans are always looking for answers in our lives and the reasons for our very existence.

I read this book while on holiday and it was a perfect beach read. My favourite part of the book was the time spent in Italy, her descriptions are excellent. I am going to give this book to all of my friends and I hope that they enjoy it as much as i did.

As has been mentioned - all drivers should have a copy of this book as it lays out very simply exactly what you should and shouldn't do in most situations on the road.
So many of us drive, ride or use the roads and we need to understand the ground rules - for less than the price of a pint, you can use it to dazzle your team-mates in pub quizzes, or settle those perennial arguements (what is the speed limit for a van on a dual carraigeway anyway?).
It's an absolute bargain - so if you find yourself frustrated by modern road designs and signs, or get confused by how to deal with some of the strange new junctions - get a copy.

An interesting story that bring some sense of the Tudor times with Sansom's descriptions. Unfortunately the book is not really about those times but a modern view of them.
We have all the modern paraphernalia of obsessions, compulsions, modern medicine, hypnosis and serial killer that do not belong.
The identity of the killer may be a surprise but there is no way he could commit those crimes unless he was Superman.
It also needs some careful editing, for example for no reason Samuel Elliard's name was changed to Stephen.
Take the book with you on your holidays and enjoy it as you sip your glass of wine.
I would like to see Mr. Sansom take more time with the next book and really get inside the Tudor mind. (See Hiliary Mantel's book coming ... Read More:

Whilst I don't know if this book is quite as significant as is being made out, it's a nice and straightforward primer on behavioural economics and some of its applications.

The first section sets the scene for why nudges - policy interventions that encourage rather than mandate certain types of behaviour - may be necessary. So it builds up the argument for why we aren't the rational self-maximizers that economics has tended to assume we are. This section includes a useful run-through of some of the key heuristics and biases that have been identified and what kind of outcomes they result in. This does provide a pretty good overview of some of the major factors like anchoring, availability, representativeness, loss aversion and so on. It also stresses the importance ... Read More:

Are you a man around the age of 29? Are you having a strange urge to find out what your old friends from school are up to, and are you worried that it's the beginning of turning 30-something? Well, me too. But now there's no need- you can just read this book instead. Danny Wallace has already done all that, in 2007, and his story is much better than yours, or mine.

Danny goes in search of friends, mainly from primary school, with a very loose premise of 'updating his address book', an address book he's found in a box of old school stuff his Mum kept, though this is just an excuse for a trip down memory lane.

He ends up in L.A., in Japan, in Germany, and around many places in the UK doing all the tracking-down and catching-up that you and I would be doing ... Read More:

OK... hard job ahead: how to review a book and push your opinions on theists reading this so they instantly de-convert. Phew, here goes... Great amount of thought... Sorry, can't do it. I doubt if anyone could do it in one volume. The atheism vs. theism debate crosses many disciplines and one shouldn't read one anti-God book one should read them all. More on the ones I recommend soon. But, does Dawkins cross many disciplines or does he just stick to his favoured argument from evolution giving rise to apparent design? Does he tread on the toes of philosophers and theologians and get his fingers burnt? Well, as mentioned in the foreword to the paperback edition he only needs to deal with theologies that deal with the existence of God. Most areas of theologies take it as a given ... Read More:

In all types of history there are defining moments. A moment that is so extraordinary that you have to see it again to believe what you have just seen. It sometimes takes time for the dust to settle to appreciate such a moment.
This comic is one of those moments.
The Dark Knight Returns took a tired out superhero genre and re-injected it with the modern paced style we see today. A comic that in fact saved the superhero himself. The multi-layering of story lines in this epic tale is almost cinematic in its construction.
Maybe a little dated now, but at the time it re-defined everything in comics and the way superheroes where percieved. If you are a fan of Batman, this should be the cornerstone to your collection.

Another book of so called celebrity self indulgent clap trap. We've all lived a life, experienced things, not been in control of what happened to us during our formative years. But we grew up and got on and dealt with it. No sympathy here, in fact this book has been the last straw, pushed me over the edge into a place where I now refuse to even look at a celeb autobiography ever again.
