Absolutely beautiful! A gorgeous hardbacked book with box. All the illustrations are exactly how you would remember them. Stories are perfectly laid out. There are even a few extras.
Truely wonderful, I will be buying more for friends children in the very near future

It's a fantastic story that works on so many levels.

My son introduced me to it, and although on many early-teen school reading lists, don't be put off. It's extremely well-written and engaging.

It will become a classic...and there isn't a wizard or pixie in sight!

( The Holes [2003] is equally faithful to the book, and an excellent interpretation of the story)

This book is one if the best books I have ever read! It is well written, sensitive, insightful, emotional and very moving.

It is the story of a 16 year old girl called Tessa who is terminally ill with leukemia; she is not ready to die and wants so much more from life. She makes a list of things that she would like to achieve before she dies, and what follows is a story of her trying to live life to it's fullest, trying her hardest before she gets too weak. It makes for such a heartwarming read as you are willing her on, wishing her to feel all the things that she should feel in her life. This could have easily become a depressing book but it is not at all, it is uplifting, positive and life affirming.

I defy anyone ... Read More:

Alone on a Wide Wide Sea

I dont read books much, but then when i went to the library the librarian pointed this book out to me, so i took it home and started reading. I loved the first half of it, where Arthur Hobhouse's life story is told,he is evacuated to austrailia with his lucky key given to him by his sister Kitty, where he lives the rest of his life. However the second half isn't as good although it is interesting to find out what happenes to Allie (Arthurs Daughter) on her long voyage to find her Fathers long lost sister Kitty,it still has some tension to keep you interested but it can get a bit boring. Overall it is one of the best books i've ever read, its just a little bit of a let down on the second half but, i still reccomend ... Read More:

My sister recommended Purple Hibiscus to me sometime last year. However, I was reluctant to read the book because I was not sure that it could live up to Half a Yellow Sun, Adichie's other book. In hindsight, I was right.

The novel is narrated by Kambili Achike, the fifteen-year old daughter of a wealthy Nigerian businessman. The book begins with a description of her family life: Her wealthy father, Eugene Achike, whom she called Papa, had made good in life. He had numerous factories and a newspaper, which took an uncompromising stand on the corruption of the ruling elite. To cap it all, he was a philanthropist par excellence, supporting many causes.

Beneath the respectable veneer, however, all is not well. Her father, supporter ... Read More:

Rowling has proved herself yet again to be a master of fantasy fiction in the second installment of the Hary Potter series. The characterisations initially developed in the 'Philosopher's Stone' are considered in depth by the author, allowing presumptions to be overturned, and the impossible to be considered. From the start of this work, adventure and excitement become codewords, allowing readers of any age to engage with the well written literature. Much recommended.
