There have been enough reviews already that describe what AIS is about but I feel obliged to chip in about the quality. This isn't as witty as it likes to think it is and some of the metaphorical images are very heavy handed. The illustrated Shakespeare pages are truly awful. The artist's representation of himself as narator in 4 different guises is irritating and maybe even a tad vain. There were interesting sections but overall this book suffers from a lack of narrative, sure comics can be a medium for more that just superheroes and boys adventure, but do we really want them to read like a travel guide?

The first Sin City book was incredible, I've never read anything like it. So, how come the next book is such a flop? Firstly, all the characters are a bit dull, none of them have the charm that Marv did in the first book. This being set before and during the events of the first book, Marv makes a cameo appearance, but you never get to hear his thoughts during the book, which is what made him such an interesting character.

The plot is as flat as the characters. The first book has you constantly wondering what's going to happen, and could easily be read in one sitting, you just don't get bored enough to put it down. This time, however, you think nothing of putting it on the shelf and returning to it later, when you have the free time. It ... Read More:

Let's juts start at the beginning here, awesome story, great art. It's all here, the characters, the humour (at least from Spidey), the iconic images (Captain America surfing a fighter jet anyone?) I love this book, but I do have a few reservations. For a start what we have here is an X Men plot without the X men. Charles Xavier and Magneto have been replaced by Captain America and Iron Man, even if it is more like Magneto vs Magneto. I'm still not sure if the X men parallels are a bad thing though, X men works well because of that conflict. My next problem is also character related, I just feel that few of my favourites just don't get enough screen time, Daredevil for example, but I feel I may be splitting hairs here.
As a whole though, this book ... Read More:

When reading a long graphic novel series you have to usually remember that for the most part they get better as they go along. The first volume will lay the groundwork and this will often lead many to say that a comic is boring.

Y The Last Man Vol 1 is good enough to make you want to read the next one but has some serious flaws. For starters women are portrayed as rather one dimensional and Yorick can be a little annoying in his single minded attempt to get to his girlfriend when humanity is obviously in danger. On saying that
I raced through this book and while I did find it annoying in parts it is a good start and I will be picking up Volume 2.

In this ninth volume of the excellent Death Note series, Light Yagami conceives a plan that could potentially halve his opposition at a stroke and bring his perfect world one step closer. He moves against Mello but not everything goes as planned and Light discovers that Near may be closer to the truth than is comfortable. Despite this Kira is making progress with the general public and this opens new possibilities for Light to manipulate.

Death Note continues to weave plans within plans, with all three of the main characters trying to out do each other in cunning. This volume does see some good twists and some surprising losses that could shake things up slightly. Overall Death Note remains a very well written and carefully plotted series that is a ... I was really looking forward to recieving this throught the post, and when I seen the size of the book I thought "great".
But there are only 50 pages of photographs and concept art, and the rest is all script. I think the item description for this is misleading, as it sais "The Art of The Drak Knight"
Don't get me wrong, the artwork and photographs are great, and there's a section where the make up artist tell of how the Joker's make up was done! That's why I have given it 4 Stars.
