Good book. Covers a lot of ground and gives a good survey of the field. Time is on its back, however. The use of web frameworks such as Struts or Spring, and the use of ORM tools such as Hibernate or JPA makes much of the book "redundant". Such tools although solving a lot of practical problems, also introduces many new ones. Maybe a new edition of the book should cover such ground.

I have been pretty much glued to this book ever since getting it. I consider myself a computer geek, but PSE6 was quite new to me, and I have found the book invaluable in helping me find my way round the software and process my photos. It's easy to follow, well laid out, and quite well written (if somewhat American), and has very practical advice and tips. My husband, who is most definitely NOT a computer geek, has also been following and using it and quite happily. I mostly dip in an out for specific advice, but having just used it to successfully calibrate my monitor / download a printer profile / get a decent print (hurrah!), I am planning to read it cover to cover. I brought this book for two junior technicians at work. They both used this and not much else to revise and prepare for the exam. I personally never read this book so can't truly comment 100% but..................both technicians passed the exam so the book must be doing something right!

When I am looking to learn about something and dont want to be blasted by information overload and jargon, I usually look to learn from someone who is an ordinary individual that just had a go and learnt as they went. And this author is one such individual, who learnt from experience, aquaintances and trial and error and general workshops. This book is very accessable from a lay persons perspective written in a friendly and coherent manner. Whats more, she seems to cover everything that is required to day trade including psychological attitude, risk v reward,trends, technical analysis, chartings and any thing else one could require for a good footing in day-trading. This is really essential reading for anyone embarking on independant film making with a digital camcorder. He covers all aspects including your relationship with actors. This is not a technical how-to textbook, it's about the kind of experiences you would only get from working along side an experienced director.

Most organisations I have come across only use a subset of the UML diagrams. Which makes this the ideal reference guide, as it covers everything in enough depth for you to understand where they all fit in, so you can then focus on the bits that are useful to you.

In contrast to the other reviewers, I found this the most dull and badly written computer book I have ever read. It can never have been proof-read. It is full of careless errors - there are even some in the answers to the questions. The book leaves gaps in your understanding all over the place, and doesn't flow. The aim seems to be learning by committing disjointed facts to memory, rather than imparting understanding. This is not a dull subject if it is taught by enthusiasts, but the authors of this book do not seem to have the spark of life within them. I give it one star for the included CDs, and for giving an idea of what's expected in the exam.
