I purchased this on the strength of previous reviews and because I have been going through depression. Well - a great cure for my insomnia! How this writing can be described as "clear" is beyond me. I consider myself a fairly intelligent person but this book is hard hard work. Long badly constructed sentences using 20 words when 5 would have been ample, you have to read everything 3 times to get any idea of the meaning. The words used are long, difficult and unnecessary(keep a dictionary handy). I handed it to my husband to ask "is it me"? He has an M.A. from Cambridge, has practised law for 25 years and is incredibly intelligent. He read several pages at various places throughout the book and shook his head - his comment was my heading ... Read More:

Not a great book.

Note the apostophe in the title - this is Gordon Ramsey branded, but he only wrote the intro. The recepies are by his trusty side-kick Sarge.

The recepies themselves are all pretty simple, basic stuff - not what you would hope (or expect) from Gordon Ramsey.

Save your money and spend it elsewhere!

This book is one of the best book's i've read in a long long time.Being a avid reader and getting through 2 or 3 books a week should give you some idea of how amazing this book is.I cried through the last 100 or so pages and was shocked at a few surprises towards the end which i didn't see coming at all.I won't tell you what this book is about as it say's enough about it without giving away the story in the blurb so all i'm going to say is this is a MUST read.Expesially for those who enjoyed my best friends girl and thought it couldn't get any better than that.

A very satisfying read. It's a fresh angle on the relationship novel and all the more rewarding for that. The reader is taken into the head of Grace, which proves to be a fascinating and engaging place to be.

We move with her through the months of her relationship with Seamus, empathising more with her experience of therapy than the emotions of the romance. That is not to say that we aren't happy when the emotions develop in the way we would best like.

It becomes quite an agonising experience to feel how the drugs affect her sensitivity and a relief when she decides to stop taking them and achieve her own style of therapy. The gradual decrease of counting and calculation in the narrative is nicely judged to enable the reader ... Read More:

I had high hopes for this book but was left a little disappointed.

There was lots of stuff in here that I had forgotten but most of it I will surely forget again because I'm not too interested. The bits I was interesting in (maths and science) I found that I did know (because I read sciencey books anyway) and it felt a bit lightweight in that area.

The book mostly covers early secondary school topics and touches on some of the basics from 'O' level (I guess that's GCSE now).

Overall, I think it is worth a read and it does deliver what it tries to. My problem is that my expectations were unrealistic (but that's not the author's fault).

I read this book in 3 days, lazing by the pool in a hot country. Not a highly intelligent read. Disappointed to learn a ghost writter was involved, doesn't that defeat the object?!

Would recommend it for a holiday read to lose the hours whilst sunbathing but would rate it no higher.

I don't consider myself a RB fan but I was curious about this book. I expected it to be mad-cap & irritating and wondered how it had become so popular. However, I was captivated right from the start and impressed by Russell's honesty. The writing style meant that I needed to have a dictionary at hand sometimes to look up the unusual words he used, this spoilt things a bit (as I wanted to keep reading) but overall it was very enjoyable. Russell comes across as a very bright, caring man and I would love to read a follow up now that he's a success in the USA.

Having only read one other Kernick novel (Relentess) I was hoping for more of the same. Whilst this followed the same fast paced action, it was ten times better! The pages raced by as I started chapter after chapter, not wanting to put it down. I kept making guesses as to who was involved, thinking I'd sussed it out only to find my theories were completely blown out of the water.

Unlike `Relentless' this feels more realistic. There are still a few aspects of the plot that I don't feel were tied up very well but as with most crime thrillers it's easy to establish the crime rather than draw it to a close at times. Having said that, I felt completely satisfied when I closed the covers. Almost every character has a secret, but is it a secret connected ... Read More:

Victoria Hislop has taken a passionate part of Spanish history and turned it into a disappointing and flat novel. Although the book has been well-researched, it appears to have been a hastily written and none of the characters really spring to life, especially Sonia who is rather a pathetic creature compared to her sensual mother! The use of flashbacks does not work at all and there is a complete lack of suspense. My advice - read 'Winter in Madrid' by C J Sansom.
