A very, very good map of Venice, with lots on it. In fact, perhaps, too much. You have to read this map in advance of your trip - become adept at finding a grid reference for a restaurant, for example, or a "sight" if that's what you are on your way to see. Good: - the public transport routes are right, though not very obvious from the map, but there's an official "venice transport" map on the back. - even the traghetto routes are right(a gondola ferry - E0.50 this year, 2008) - "road" names are clear and easy to read, if you've got the right glasses on... you reach an age..... - many reasonable restaurants/bars marked, but coded by cost, which means there are 20 or so entries marked as B on the map, the grid ... It would seem almost impossible to write a one-volume travel book on the USA but somehow Rough Guides has managed it in style. I would usually hesitate to spend more than £15 on a paperback but this is so detailed and well-written I find myself returning to it again and again. These days it's probably easier to use online resources when choosing accommodation but as a pithy guide to resorts and for planning trip itineries, this Rough Guide is invaluable.

As a single female traveller travelling around New England, I found this book an absolut must have. I followed the books recomendations about places to stay and things to do. With out it who knows where I would have ended up! I looked after this book as if it was my passport.

This book really does contain everything you need to know about Las Vegas. It gives an honest, critical appraisal of pretty much every aspect of the city, and while it plays to Vegas' strengths, you'll also see that it's not all roses. This is particularly evident in the architecture section and when talking about transport and certain areas between Downtown and the Strip. A must have book for anyone visiting Vegas, or who just wants a good look at what its like warts and all.

These Eyewitness Guides are great. You get huge amounts of information, tips and ideas for a relatively small book. The information is well researched and sound, the pictures relavant and stunning and the whole book is small enough to fit in your pocket to carry around with you.

This is the 2nd book from Lois - I loved every word - even my Mother-in-Law loved them - high praise indeed. Having met the lass on many occasions this book shows her natural ability to tell it as it is. Rather like Ted Simon's books - Lois is better in the second book.... "a must read" for all thinking of going for a long motorcycle ride that dreams are made of...

this book wasnt for me im afraid, i was always waiting for the story to start, and i didnt understand the need for the road trip, not like her her other books which are brilliant

Very well illustrated guide, most informative. For visitors from other counties the guide to US coins is a help. The advice on sales tax is a practical help. I love the US but find it most confusing that because of sales tax one is never sure how much cash to produce in excess of the price marked on goods for sale.
