This book is about horrible murders happening and the killer sending DI Thorne the pictures of it on his mobile. The motives behind the murders are so much different and you can almost feel sympathy for the murderer. I also had to laugh a good couple of times, due to the witty dialoge between Thorne and Hendricks, and Porter.
Written in a spell-binding way, this book I could not put down.
I do recommend you read this book in the right order with the other Tom Thorne books by Billiingham, as some re-knowledge will enhance your reading pleasure and understanding of plot unfolding.

I have read a few of Peter James's books and loved them all but I have to say that although I did enjoy this one, I found it a bit slow moving and not as gripping as the others I have read.
It's still a good read and I loved the ending, that was a good twist on the last couple of pages, but I do think that he has written other better novels than this one.

Not sure about the bent copper angle - I like my copper heroes to be morally upright! Or at least if like Tom Thorne then only bent in the interests of justice. There just doesn't seem to be enough reasons for this copper to start on a business as a hitman. All a bit silly, I think I'll stick to Mark Billingham.

People expecting to read this book and get an idea as to what the new film is about will be disappointed when "Quantum of Solace" is released in November. The only thing the two have in common is the title. However the story is a very good one and I'm sure the film will also be superb.

This book is a collection of the short stories following Bond in "For Your Eyes Only" and "Octopussy and The Living Daylights". The Amazon description is wrong and the tales from "For Your Eyes Only" are "View to a Kill", "For Your Eyes Only", "Quantum of Solace", "Risico" and "The Hildebrand Rarity". From "Octopussy and The Living Daylights" comes "Octopussy", "The Living Daylights", "The Property of a Lady", and "007 in New York".

If this book has to be marketed it should be in the childrens' section.
Got to about page 100 then threw it in the bin.
Utter tosh.
Just goes to show that "No1 best seller" means nothing.
DO NOT be sucked in by the marketing hype.

This is the third book written by Eric Van Lustbader about Jason Bourne. As I've commented before, this isn't the same Jason Bourne as Robert Ludlum wrote about. If you want that Jason Bourne, skip this book. It's also different from the wonderful ninja stories that Eric Van Lustbader is known for. So don't look for that either.

If you are interested in meeting and following a new Jason Bourne, read on. If you do decide to read The Bourne Sanction, I strongly suggest that you read The Bourne Betrayal first. The characters and the situation won't make much sense to you otherwise. I suspect that you will see this book as a one or two star effort.

As the book opens, there's a deadly secret being passed along to help foil a dangerous ... Read More:

Deception Point

Dan Brown gives us his most action packed and fastest paced novel to date, at the same time retaining all the complexity of his plots and the continually shifting suspicions of the main characters.

However there are some flaws, too many very short two page chapters, cliff hangers at every switch of the action becoming a mannerism, and with four main strands of plot this is a little too much.

Having said that as always with Dan Brown his research is first class and we are drawn into some fascinating technology and in this case high tech weaponry of a particularly nasty Special Forces unit.

A really great page turning read, don't miss it.

99.Careless in Red (Inspector Lynley Mystery) by: Elizabeth George

This isn't a bad book - it's just that we know Ms George can do so much better. Barbara Havers has always been the strongest character in this series and the book suffers badly from her absence for large parts of the story - although DI Hannaford does plug the gap in some instances. As other reviewers have said - it's hard to care about anyone much in this story. The characters are all largely unsympathetic and might have been more interesting if one or two had turned out to be downright nasty instead of lacking interest by default. But even that could have been acceptable if the finale had packed a sufficient punch - instead it just trails to a disappointing (and easily guessed) conclusion.

This, along with the Blood Brothers are the 1st books I've picked up by Nora Roberts and my honest opinion is WHY? I found I couldn't put them down, usually I take approx 1wk per book, read both of these within this time limit, I just can't wait for part 3. I'm not a hardened thriller reader and I suspect if you are, these are light reading for you, however I found myself absorbed and there is a love story thrown in for good measure. Excellent.
