I have read every one of the Inspector Banks novels in order. I am now up to Aftermath and this proves that the series is going from strength to strength. The early novels were short but later they have become more in depth with character development.
The first chapter could easily be the last chapter of many a crime novel.
A neighbour reports a domestic in a neighbour's house. Two constables respond to this and stumble upon the home of the Chameleon a serial killer that Yorkshire police have been chasing for months. The killer Payne has knocked his wife Lucy unconscious. He attacks the constables and kills one but the other constable manages to knock him unconscious.

The remainder of the story is the aftermath for those involved. ... Read More:

A nine year old girl is murdered during a crossfire between motorcycle gangs. Tempe gets involved. During the investigation she manages to find a North Carolina/Montreal connection, which was a little coincidental in the last book, too much this time. The blood spatter description was way too long and unlike the forensic descriptions in her last two books, was boring. She fights too much with the cops and makes stupid decisions the Tempe in the first two books never would have made. Her nice guy nephew seems to have gotten all stupid as well. And if all that isn't enough, Reichs went a little over the top in making the bikers so bad.

All that said though, I still found "Deadly Decisions" to be a fast, fun read and am giving it three stars.

Dear Mr Koontz I am 34 yrs old and live in Liverpool. I probably won't live long enough to draw my state pension given that both my Grandparents died well before they hit 70 and the British Government have seen fit to extend the state pension age to 68. My point is I would really love to read Frankenstein 3 before I am dead not alive. Please have pity for I suffer.

i am a best selling author. i can write any old rubbish and people will buy it. sadly i did. never again. this is just nonsense produced by a writer who seems to have an enormous chip on her shoulder. to quote a carry on film "they've all got it in for me"

Peter Robinson grew up in Yorkshire, and is the author of a number of previous novels featuring Inspector Banks. He is the winner of numerous awards in the United States, Britain and Canada, and in 2002 he won the CWA Dagger in the Library. As I also come from Leeds the background to his stories is something that I have experienced first hand and because of this I have a special affection for his books. However they would be first class crime fiction wherever they were based.

The body of a well-liked and equally well respected local historian is found partially buried under of all things a drystone wall, close to the small village of Helmthorpe, Swaindale. Why would anyone want to murder a quiet unassuming man?

Funnily enough several ... Read More:

Set in a bleak urban landscape peopled by loansharks and yakuza, deranged men, and lonely, impoverished women, this novel - short on description and full of desperation, greed and hatred - had to be persuasive and brilliantly written to stand a chance. And I just loved it. It utterly gripped me, from start to finish. It's the product of a sharp intelligence, and bitterness fuelled by the lot of Japanese women. Cleverly plotted, it manages with ease the complex web of interconnections between the characters, and the almost-incredible story did convince me. (Although now and again I had to sit back and laugh at the daring of it: what would Masako's 17-year-old son have thought if he came home early to find his mother cutting up a corpse in the bathroom? Yes: the flashes of ... Read More:

I am pleased to report that this book was even better than `The Eyre Affair'. I felt more engaged with Thursday, the plot was just as exciting and the clever humour was still there. If you haven't done so already I would definitely suggest reading `The Eyre Affair' first as this book continues the series. Unlike `The Eyre Affair' I probably wouldn't suggest any pre-requisite reading. There is no specific book and if you come across a reference you don't understand you can always look it up later if you really want. I have to admit that my knowledge of Dickens does not stretch beyond `A Christmas Carol' yet I still found the numerous references highly amusing. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.

What can I write about this book that hasn't been said or written yet? Everybody knows everything about its plot and its characters, so I'll better write about what this book means to me.

I started reading when I was four. When I was a child, my family spent the summer in the country, and in few years I had read all the children's books that we had there. So,when I was seven I decided to explore my father's library: since I wasn't allowed to climb on a ladder (nor did I dare to), I took the first book I reached. Yes, it was The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. I won't pretend I understood everything I read there, but enough to make me want to read more. With the years I learned to love both Sherlock Holmes and its adventures. And I haven't stopped doing so.
