This text is the perfect introduction to the field of security protocols. It is concise enough to serve as a readable introduction to protocol design but encyclopedic enough to serve as an ongoing reference.

The book covers details of security goals, types of attacks etc., and gives descriptions of over 170 protocols. It is particularly pleasing to see a treatment of `forward secrecry', a property much neglected in other texts. Also of note are the sections on formal and complexity-theoretic protocol analysis; whilst these sections act only as primers their inclusion should help make protocol designers aware of the need for proofs of correctness.

Far less intimidating (and much shorter than) Schneier's "Applied Cryptography" ... Read More:

Books : Math for 3D Game Programming and Computer Graphics (Charles River Media Game Development (Hardcover))
This is an excellent book for those who have some mathematical experience. Proofs of the key theorems are given, and examples for the reader to work through, with answers at the back of the book. Descriptions are concise and to the point, with diagrams provided where needed. The first 3 chapters will be a useful reference to anyone studying vectors and matrices, not just to game developers. The rest of the book moves on to more specific areas of game programming such as collision detection and illumination. Finally the book ends with 3 excellent chapters on linear, rotational and fluid physics. The author states that some prior knowledge of vectors is required, but I think the first chapter is detailed enough for people with little or no experience ... Read More:

Books : Discrete Mathematics and Its Applications
I read this book for a course in Discrete Mathematics at Aalborg University. Having a backgound with a degree in Software Engineering where the focus was on practical implementation, I found the book a bit hard to read. However every chapter included excercises which made the theory easier to understand for a practician like me.

One of the things that would have made the course easier for me was a brush up on the algebra i had in college. The book uses a lot of basic mathematic notations and if you don't know them you will have a hard time reading the book.

To spice up the load of theory, the book contains some history with biographies of famous mathematicians, some which are quite fun to read.

Don't make the mistake of buying the c version, buy this one and adapt by yourself the code to a new language if you don't want to use the fortran code. This is a brilliant book.

Books : Discrete and Combinatorial Mathematics: An Applied Introduction
This is an average book. I am currently in the third year of an engineering mathematics course. This was not the recomended text. But that text was terrible in comparision to this which is also not a great book. The explanations could be clearer, and better laid out. But this book is useful as a reference, when really really confused. In my opinion more examples would be usefull as this text has few.
