Apart from having her love for Seymour set aside so the King could marry her and managing to never put herself, Edward or those around them at risk of his jealousy; Parr was a stepmother to Mary, Elizabeth and Edward who tried to create a united family, she was a religious reformer who asserted herself too strongly and Henry arranged her arrest only to be persuaded otherwise at the last minute. If she hadn't been able to win Henry back round with some swift grovelling she could have lost her life. She probably would have been a great regent for Edward VI's minority. This is the last Walker book I read as after this they just because way too samey as if she had run out of imagination - but for me this is her best. The sequel to French Relations, this takes the happy ending of that book and here subverts it. Witty, funny, romantic, this is the perfect after-work read or just before bed book.

A great read and the perfect guide for the professional or amatuer. If your planning a road trip or just fancy a change from your local break then I can highly recommend this guide. We spent two weeks travelling GB and found loads of spots we'd never heard of. It's also nice to support a fellow female surfer. Have also bought the european guide which we plan to use this autumn, will let you know how we get on!
