Didn't want to put this down, couldn't put it down. No housework done today!! A great tale through the war years and beyond. Something a little bit different. If you like Maureen Lee, you will love this new saga, set in Liverpool. One of those stories that you wish would never end.

I thought that this book was just OK and nothing else. I could put it down and I wasnt desperately trying to find 5 minutes to pick it back up again.

Not having read the first book, it was a little bit difficult for me grasp who was who and what had happened previously. I think the author assumes that you have read the previous book.

I also found the book a bit rushed. There is no real description of the characters and I found that I didnt really care too much for them.

I see the ending coming from about a third of the way through the book, and I really dont think that it was a good one, a bit of a let down and a cop out.

To try and put it into perspective, I am huge Martina Cole fan, although ... Read More:

As a mental health student nurse studying for a BSc (hons) Degree, there are two areas that I continually struggle with day in and day out, the first is medication and the second is the Mental Health Act 1983, can you imagine the confusion when the Amended Mental Health Act 2007 came out. This book has been really good for me as it not only includes the full mental health act but also the amendments from 2007. also, this book includes mental capacity act. Basically, it has everything you need to help you plough through the current legislation in preparation for the 2007 act implementation in October. Details of certain mental act sections are easily located and explained. I did ponder about awarding 4 stars to this publication as a lot of the work tends ... Read More:

It's been a constant in the Merrily Watkins series, unlike some of Mr Rickman's other excellent books, that the supernatural elements take place largely in the background of Merrily's life, and that the matters with which she deals directly turn out in most cases to be of primarily human agency. This is axiomatic in detective stories: there's no satisfaction if the murderer can't be brought, one way or another, to justice. Having said that, Mr Rickman has by now well established that the supernatural is a fundamental part of Merrily's world, such that he doesn't need to drag out the sheet with the eyeholes and the luminous tambourine every single time. Indeed, the longer the time between one confrontation with the numinous and the next, the more powerful ... Read More:

Have done over half of walks in book- all varied and got me around wonderful scenery.

Only shame is weather at times- but not book's fault.

Only wish is that book was a bit more waterproof!

OS maps easy to use- especially if you sometimes forget your own maps.

Betty's Wartime Diary is a splendid read. However those people who consider themselves 'experts' in the field should stay away from this one. It is, as the editor reminds us he put this together from ' - her sketchy and disintegrating notes'. Naturally then some level of research has been required. What made this for me is the simple authorship and inclusion of many wartime posters. Both my daughters have used this text in their studies demonstrating its use outside the home. Oh and yes I am an 'expert'!!

This is the first Elizabeth Gaskell book I've ever read and unfortunately not very impressed. The overall subject seems to be the love story in our heroine's life, however, book tries to give so many other mesages that it is not fun or focused anymore. There are social issues, emerging new worker-master dynamics in the victorian time, continues questioning of death and beyond... Within all this it is impossible to get a true taste of a social, phylosophical or romance novel.
Although I like the period books very much, I could barely finish this one.

A very easy to read short victorian novel covering many aspects of slum life. Unsentimental un moralistic quite refreshing for the times I would have thought.
With a gripping compelling style Morrison brings the characters to life not forgetting interesting portrayals of various women of the slum community.
