I would only add the book FREE YOUR MIND by Anthony Stultz as a companion. Stultz shows us the ancient roots of CBT in Eastern wisdom and offers and updated system that incorporates the best of Buddhist insight and Western technique.

We've got a pretty complete collection of Jamie Oliver books so you would think there is a possibility he gets repetitive. Pleased to say however that he has come up with a big book (I think his heaviest to date) of fresh new ideas. Again, they are imaginative and appealing, while still being straightforward to reproduce. A sensible book to have.

While working for a previous company, I was sent on this course (which included reading the book). I'm sure the company meant well, but my experience of the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People", was essentially teaching people how to suck eggs. Stephen R. Covey has made a personal fortune out of selling what most critical thinkers realise for themselves at an early age. His writings are bland and uninteresting, telling us what we already know in a language barely recognisable as English. "Synergize", "leverage", "win-win"; I'm sure you've heard them before. They are all here. Do they mean anything? In my humble opinion - not in the slightest. Steer clear.

I found this too wordy and deep for a simple soul such as myself however I did as advised on the Oprah site and sat with 2 marker pens in different colours to underline that which I understood and that which I didn't. Needless to say one colour got a heck of a bashing!! I've given it 3 stars though because I did actually get some really good bits out of it which I jotted down on the spare blank pages at the back (in my own words so I would understand later) and for that it was worth reading/buying. What I am most chuffed about however is reading a review by Paul Chipperfield (lower down) recommending Cheri Huber's book which as he said is much kinder to us mere mortals and he is sooooo right!! I'm doing an M.Sc. in Operational Research by distance learning. I didn't have much of a clue about how to go about organising the research for my dissertation, and this book (out of all that I've bought) has been the best, providing a clear workflow from start to finish. Some really helpful references too.

This is not a bad book, it is very comprehensive and well written, so it is fun to read and contains useful information. It seems intended to be read through more than as a reference book. However, in my opinion it is a bit too much. The information overloads the reader and then it is difficcult to remember the key things a new mom has to have in mind.It would suit you if you have a control freak side and want to know absolutelly everything about -1 yr old babies. It won't suit you if you are an aprehensive person.

I really love this book, the recipes are very easy and tasty, my baby loves them!!!. If I didn't have the book, I would have never used broccoli, nor onion on a purée for example. This book has been an excellent guide to me. The author also gives very good nutritional tips. I'm very happy to have this book and I would recommend it to first time parents without a doubt.
