"In which we get to know Dexter a bit more as his Dark Passenger's murderous instincts are put on hold due to his nemesis Sgt Doakes' obsession with finding out what Dex really does. Unfortunately, this leads to Dexter ultimately helping to 'save' his life when a killer from Doakes' past comes to town.
Although always gruesome, complicated and completely involving, this is not quite up to the high standard of Dexter's debut, as Dex is handicapped by Doakes' interest in him. But we do learn that Dex would dearly love to find a young kindred spirit to teach as he himself was ... and that is really worrying, but of course augurs well for future outings for the vigilante antihero from hell!"

I had been waiting for this book for ages and when i finally got it, i consumed it in two days. As the above review said, it does follow the same story line as her others (women trying to overcome her past, meets a handsome and caring guy, but someone is out to hurt her) but this doesn't seem to matter. She manages to create charactors that you cant help fall for and they seem unique when you read the book. I loved the charactor of Cilla, strong, able to care for herself, but over time she accepts that its okay to be vulnrable. Ford and his dog were a perfect match for Cilla and you could fully believe how they would click and fall for each other in such a short time.

I loved following the restoration of the 'Farm',and Ms Roberts ... Read More:

There's probably no one else I can think of who can write so vividly, and inquisitively, about our contemporary techno-psychological landscape than William Gibson. His 2003 novel "Pattern Recognition" remains among the best - if not the best (of which I am certain) - fictional depiction of American media-obsessed culture in the aftermath of 9/11. It was also his best novel in years, a riveting techno-thriller about "cool hunter" Cayce Pollard's search for the mysterious internet "The Footage" which had acquired a most bizarre cult-like status amongst Internet lurkers. "Spook Country", Gibson's latest novel, is a sequel of sorts, introducing us once more to the enigmatic Belgian advertising mogul Hubertus Bigend, owner of Big Ant advertising firm. This ... I doubt this review will give away much more than you can infer from the others, least I hope it won't.

As a review above says, it's a book I found difficult to put down - at first for the promising start: picking up the story of a previous Welsh acquaintance, and one whose previous description was from a mouth tainted by madness. The setting held much intrigue, also.

But by the end I couldn't put it down for another, far worse reason. Where were the twists? Even mild ones? Get to the end quick to reveal what's been building up then: a Massive twist... Nope. Nothing.

It's pretty well put - I enjoy Welsh's way of telling a story - unfortunately there really wasn't one. He's Good. They're Bad. He Wins. The characters ... Read More:

I found this book both dull and disturbing, but not in a good way. At times I found myself open mouthed with disbelief at the way in which women, and in particular teenage girls, were depicted. The author appears to worship teenage beauty and to condone relationships between young girls and older men. The story drags on for 600 or so pages of trite, unoriginal drivel. While it contains a few ideas that might have been interesting in the hands of a more skilled author, Stephenie Meyer appears to lack both maturity and any philosophical or scientific knowledge to give her ideas weight. The result is a book that relies instead on narrow stereotypes - good looking men rescuing beautiful girls, soft hearted, eccentrics etc etc. Even the love stories at its centre lack ... Read More:

I love Jack reacher books, and this is one of the best I`ve read. Lee Child is such a good writer. If you like Child read the Soft Target books by Conrad Jones, theyre fantastic thrillers, same genre. Keep them coming Mr Child.

Having read and enjoyed many of the finest authors of the 19th & 20th century (including many Indian authors) I felt I had to explore Rushdie. What a mistake - pretentious, self-indulgent claptrap.

Crystal is the second novel from Katie Price and is a very good effort.

This was the first book I read from Katie and I was pleasantly surprised.
Crystal, best friend Tahlia, and spoilt wannabe Belle are in girl group, Lost Angels. They decide to try out for new 'X Factor'-style TV show 'Band Ambition'. They become very successful and overnight are turned into the hottest girl group around.

However, it's not all smooth sailing in the limelight.
All three girls face trouble with the press, and unfortunately, Crystal suffers the worst...
Crystal falls for the charms of bad boy, Max, who happens to be Belle's boyfriend. Max seems perfect at first but soon his true colours show and he makes Crystal's like misery...
Crystal soon learns that ... Read More:

I got as far as reading the first two chapters and then I've drifted into reading other material. So classic problem of not grabbing readers attention at start doesn't bode well for rest of novel.
