I thoroughly endorse the reviews of the other reviewers who were obviously as enchanted as I was by this trilogy (not really an omnibus since there is also a second omnibus!) Jim Corbett writes in a simple, direct style with evident love for the people, customs and wildlife of India. Although he must have had numerous set-backs and frustrations caused by human failures, he records his adventures without rancour. I loved his modesty too: He continually risked his life by hunting man-eaters in their own territory, often at night, and yet does not describe himself in any way as a hero. Obviously some very extensive research has been carried out to produce this excellent book.Its big in form,big in fish and big in information along with some fantastic photography.It certainly is not a bedside reading book due to its size.If I caught a River Wharfe Brownie the weight of this book,I'd be a very happy man.Its a must for anyone who gets turned on by large salmon.(Is there a salmon fisherman that isn't!!) If you order this book via this website make sure you're in to take delivery.Or make sure you have a very wide letterbox.Its a monster!!

I cannot quite agree with the glowing 5 star reviews for this book. It's not bad, but it's often a bit superficial and tends to fall slightly between two stools in that it is neither basic enough for the beginner nor advanced/different enough to help the more experienced angler. There are better books on the subject, I think, but YMMV.

I am lucky not to suffer from the colour blindness problem but hope that the publishers bear this on mind on the next print - red/green colour blindness is well known and I see why it would be a problem. Even without being colour blind, the red of the Munros and the orange of the Corbetts are more confusing than the need to be. I use this map both as a record and a planning aid, and I do find it extremely useful. It could be better, however. My primary suggestion arises from the fact that I do not have a convenient wall on which to pin up this map, and in any case like to take it with me on trips. I often find it inconvenient to enter the date for Munros because they are on the bottom half of the map sheet, below the fold, while the map ... Read More:
