This is a lovely little booklet which contains great recipes and good colour pictures! For me, as a Dutch person, it is ideal since it uses the metrical system. UK buyers don't worry: there is a very easy-to-use table in the back converting metrical to the Uk system.

I rate this a 5+ !

Recipes include chutneys, pickles, oven dried tomatoes, a spicy coriander jam and more...

This book is a rare gem - instead of just providing a list of recipes like most books about cooking do, it gives you detailed descriptions of how various methods of food preparation work.

The book presents both scientific theory behind the techniques and practical instructions on how to use it in everyday cooking.

Definitely a must have for everybody seriously interested in good food.

I have to be honest, I am not normally drawn to this sort of `cookbook', but I am so glad I was and looked inside! A friend described this book as a `grown-up' cookbook and I now understand what she meant!

Within the pastel covers are not the oodles of colour photos that would normally encourage one to flick through, in fact the only illustrations there are, are subtle and simple, and limited to the opening of each new chapter. But, strangely enough, that is all that is required.
Additionally, any book that refers to the great `Elizabeth David`, and her editor, Jill Norman, is sure to find a place on my bookshelf!

THIS COOKBOOK IS FANTASTIC AS IS INA GARTEN., THE RECIPES AND METHODS ARE EASY TO FOLLOW., PLEASE TRY THE COEUR A LA CREME' RECIPE FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION, IT IS FABULOUS AND CAUSED QUITE A SENSATION WHEN I MADE IT FOR SOME CLOSE FRIENDS., I HAVE FOUND THAT OVERALL THE INGREDIENTS INA USES CAN BE PURCHASED AND CERTAINLY SUBSTITUTED WITH BRITISH INGREDIENTS, PERHAPS SOMETIMES WITH A LITTLE TRIAL AND ERROR BUT THAT'S THE PLEASURE OF COOKING, BUT, ALWAYS SUCCESSFUL. I AM NOW AWAITING DELIVERY THE LAST BOOK IN MY COLLECTION (PARTIES) THEN I ALMOST HAVE THEM ALL. ANYWAY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED..SHE'S MY HEROINE BRILLIANT........

I just love this book. It is full of yummy recipes with lovely colour photographs and the actual recipes are easy to make and each one I have cooked has turned out first class. There is a good selection of recipes which are divided into catergories, which include, poultry, meat, pulses, vegetables, sweets etc.

There are no fussy ingredients which one cannot find, and the cooking method is pretty straightforward. This has to be my favourite curry book by far. I am a very satisfied customer!

For those liking to understand the skill of pork handling, this is a good book and a worthy reference material. However I have to agree with the previous review and comment on the advances in culinary expertise. For me the use of some ingredients and techniques is a little laboured if excessive and the pork swordery required renders this a book little limp. I've had a few sausages in my time and have to admit that these do taste really good but for this book it's very rare I'll lob out my pork these days. I have to say though that my neighbours really do enjoy my pork, especially on hot summers days on the barbecue so for those special days, I will make the effort and give the neighbours a good treat with some quality porking sausage.

I bought this book for my husband who has been brewing in our kitchen for 30 years.

There is a lot of useful information in this book and it is great for bedtime reading because you can pick it up and browse through a few pages.

I marked it down by a star because some of the ingredients are either impossible or difficult to get hold of here in the UK.

This is a fantastic book. I ordered it on a chance that the cake on the cover would be the setting for the entire book and it is. all of the designs are modern, fun and simple, just how cakes should be. These are truly beautiful designs that are easily achieved by a beginner as well as a professional. I make cakes for a living and I can see this book being well thumbed by my customers and well used by me. Lovely fresh designs depicting the style that celebration cakes are taking right now. Highly recommended!

Aha, I thought - a recipe book written by a diabetic nutritionist! What more could I want, it'll give me all the information I need! I'll tell you what more I want - recipes which give the carbohydrate value of prepared food. As a Type 1 diabetic, my entire food intake relies on accurate counting of carbohydrate. That's why I bought this book, and it gives no help whatsoever with carbohydrate values. I can use any recipe book I choose and work out the carbohydrate content for myself; it's tedious and turns cooking into an exercise in arithmetic. Similar recipes could be found in any book advocating healthy eating, ie low fat, less sugar and salt, more fresh fruit and vegetables, and wholemeal bread and pasta. I also looked at Antony Worral Thompson's ... Read More:
