I bought this book because it's Gordon Ramsay and it was on special on Amazon. I found the book badly laid out and the pages too busy looking. The recipes are good but I've hardly used it because I don't like the look (or feel!) of the book.

This book is a delight, a gem. The original illustrations take the diaries beyond the mundane, and Thomas Livingstone's gentle humour enlivens the often dreary weather and seemingly constant worries over Agnes health. Zeplins, Chimneys, the wash house, news from the front, the ironing, the cost of coal..... all of life is here. You will love it!

I have just spent my lunchtime pouring over this book, and I cannot wait to try the recipes out. Rosemary starts out with her usual splurg about dieting, and then explains about the Slim to Win Diet. There is a fat attack to start your diet, or you can simply personalise your own diet, and after looking through the book, you cannot fail by personalising. There are starters, lunches, recipes for meat eaters, fish eaters and vegetarians, and whole section on roasts and also a fail free christmas menu, and for those of you who have a sweet tooth a whole section on puddings. I simply cannot recommend this enough -

I bought Britain From Above as a present and what a success! The whole family were enthralled. Amazing and unique photography alongside interesting commentary make this book a real showpiece and a good addition to any coffee table. I think I might have to buy a copy for myself!

A slightly different rhythm from Julia Donaldson's usual rhyming books, but this one is a gorgeous treat to read aloud for that reason. I've begged my husband to stop doing Tiddler with a cockney accent, he enjoys himself far too much and is terrible at it. I happen to deliver the definitive version, and it's the book we both hope our daughter will ask for at bedtime. Fun, funny, and a bit subversive in that the liar isn't punished!

Well, it is art and it is very hard to someone to explain the reason why he's an artist don't you think? "Why" was the question several of my colleges at work asked me when I received this little book from Amazon this morning. First they've asked me why does he do it and then, why did I bought it. To the first question I answered that Slinkachu is an artist and this is his art. For the second question I didn't need to answer anything. Just passed the book to their hands and let them see for themselves. I've been following Slinkachu work on the Internet for some time now and when I knew this book was on sale, I just had to bought it.

Five stars for the first half, three for the second. This book starts with a murder, but it is not a whodunnit thriller, it is a thoughtful take on a period in a man's life - More Hornby or Parsons than Kellerman - but more intelligent and less obvious than either. I loved the faithful description of the Dutch culture and cricketing community, and the use of English by the main character is convincing in structure and evolution. The loss of a star comes down to the end of the middle section, where it all goes a bit wooly, the author gets a bit carried away, and things which are elsewhere skilfully implied are blandly stated. The reminiscence scenes get to be rather dull, and the plot gets rather distant. But a cracking ... Read More:

...however as the story progresses it all gets a bit ploddy and I found myself losing interest as to whether the mystery is resolved or not. Special Agent Will Trent and Detective Faith Mitchell are thrown together to unravel this case. Will features in 'Triptych' but in 'Fractured' Karin concentrates more on developing his character, more than one aspect of which is worked nicely in with the story. Both he and Faith are realistically written with interesting histories and mini plots of their own and and I liked their developing work relationship. The message running through this novel is the importance of families and a feeling that you belong. Some characters having been denied a loving family, others not realising what they have ... My sister loaned me this book which I just finished reading. As a believer in angels and other spiritual beings I found it an excellent read and would recommend it to friends. Anybody interested in exploring matters of spirit should also read Peacemonger and Free Spirit by Patrick Francis. It is amazing the variety of reviews of a book and when I read the one dissenting one for this book I wonder were we reading the same book-but such is the variety of human responses and the wonder of being alive-all perspectives are valid
