This is a delicious book and my favourite new cookbook I've bought in the last year at least (I do like cookbooks). Every recipe in the book comes with a lovely story attached that explains what it means to Valentine, why it's worth trying and why you'll enjoy it. I only bought the book last Tuesday and so far I've cooked two things from it, the slow roast lamb recipe that was on last week's BBC2 programme (even before I got it out of the oven it had filled my flat with an amazing aroma and eating it was even better - it was delicious and succulent and the tastiest lamb I've ever had). Then last night I made the blackberry eton mess - I've never cooked meringue before but the recipe was so simple that I thought I'd give it a go and it was DELICIOUS ... Read More:

"Oh no, not ANOTHER travel book, written by some jumped-up celebrity hoofing it around some unheard of corner of the world, almost gloating at me, saying 'Look where I am, you're not here, ha ha'...oh, hang on! Stephen Fry, is it? I quite like him. And he's in America? Hmmm...I'm intrigued."
And that's how this book made it into my hands. I don't usually go for books like these, but because it's Stephen Fry, I took the plunge. Am I ever glad I did.
Stephen Fry travels across USA's 50 states on a mission: to discover the real America. As a country everyone seems to have an opinion on, this comes as being very timely. Is the stereotype of the 'Fat Dumb Yankee' fact or fiction?
In the hands of any other author, such a journey ... Read More:

This man is Genius. He brings out one excellent book after another, and this one is no exception. For the person who likes to entertain and cook for friends and family, this book is a must. All his books follow the same path in they use great tasting food, and packed full of meals, which anyone would be proud of.

As ever the layout of the book is first class. It has bright inviting photographs, easy to follow recipes, and the quantity of recipes in this book is very impressive once again.

The book is broken down into the following sections.

* Hot and Cold Soups
* Pasta and grains
* Fish and Shellfish
* Meat and Poultry
* Pies and Tarts
* Vegetables and Salads

I have recommended this book to everyone. It's full of good advice for different weaning stages. And I cook the 9months + recipes for my husband...he always says how nice they are and then I tell them that the meal was designed for a 12 month old!! Lovely food for babies, toddlers, and adults.

When I first read Wolf Brother, I thought WOW, this is seriously good. I've collected and read all the books since, and I'm over halfway through Oathbreaker. And it's brilliant.

I'll try not to give out too many spoilers, but this is one of the darkest installments so far, with Torak desperate for revenge after one of his closest friends is murdered by the Soul-Eaters. There's no hanging around in the story, already there's a huge amount of action before you've even finished the second chapter. The Deep Forest is also beautifully described in great detail, plus the character's emotions have become far more complex and it's easier to feel strong sympathy or hate towards them.

If you liked the first four, you'll definitely love this ... Read More:

There was such an enormous amount of expectation surrounding the arrival of this book for me - five years on, could anything come close to the assured masterpiece that is Notes on a Scandal? The answer is absolutely yes.

It's a very different book to Notes - ostensibly an `American novel' while Notes was so solidly British. It's about a dysfunctional Jewish family (the Litvinoffs) in New York who are trying, in the light of a family emergency and the consequent uncovering of a devastating secret, to work out what (and who) they believe in.

Darkly funny, subtle and deliciously written, The Believers is, by a long shot, one of the best literary novels I have read in years. And Audrey Litvinoff, the mother hen in the book, is sure to become ... Read More:

After reading Bravo Two Zero and Immediate Action a long time ago as a young soldier, I still cannot bring myself to read a fiction book from Andy McNab; not because they might not be good but because of the first two books being non-fiction. However, as soon as I discovered that he had created a new book of his personal stories I broke my pledge of "no more war stories" and bought it.

The book does build upon Immediate Action but it has an underlying and consistent message, one that I unfortunately witnessed in some ex-Falkland paras. Without telling the lay of the book and thereby removing the enjoyment for other readers, what I will say is that the story follows a young trooper meeting "brothers in arms" and what can result from years at the hard edge. This is the best autobiography ever written! Once I started reading, I could not put it down, and this is laugh out loud funny.. A wonderfully warm and funny book, written by one of our national treasures..I cannot recommed this enough, and almost cried when I had finished it!

I was at a friends and flicked through this book and began to drool! I scribbled down two recipes that night which I recreated that week. They were fantastic and I bought the book. Every single recipe screams 'Try me, you'll love me!' and I do.
