The Brits are now well familiar with Jamie Oliver's image on TV and the media generally, but it needs to be re-stated that his reputation has been built on his recipes and his cooking. This book lists dozens of recipes, and is written in the no nonsense style you'd expect from Jamie. Whilst some instructions are a bit vague, and you find yourself adding "some" oil and "a bit of " salt, the enthusiasm in each page shines through, and the enjoyment of cooking is passed to the reader. A great cookbook for those who like their food uncomplicated.

Brilliantly achieves the aim. Of particular note are the transport details to get you to the walks described.

This book is great. Not only the reciepes are very good, not only the paper quality is excellent as well as the photos, it is the narrator who makes this book great. Giorgio put all his love for italian cuisine on this. This is not just a recipe book, this is a book about Italy and its history, it's a book about food and nutrition, it's a volume with tricks that only italian grandmothers know. I can only highly reccomend this book: you won't go wrong with it.

Beautifully printed and clearly set out. Used this for a trip to the Amalfi coast and it highlighted some hidden gems to explore. Also included some good restaurant listings and tips. Excellent coverage of all areas, including Pompeii and Vesuvius.

We used this book last October when visiting Milan. We have also been to Verona in the past and this book is informative on both cities. Did not make it as far as the lakes so cannot speak about previous reviews. But fine on the cities.

I decided to read "Venice" in preparation for a week-long stay in the Italian city. Broken into three sections -- The People, The City, The Lagoon -- "Venice" is not a chronological history of the city but a meandering look at its past, present and future. Nor is it a guidebook, although it does contain a mine of information about what to see and where to go. I think "The Times" probably described it best when they said it was "a classic love letter to Italy's most iconic city", because it is, indeed, a beautiful missive dripping with exquisite descriptions.
