I just got back from Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Gomera and this is a brilliant guide book - really good info on transport, acommodation and my word the restaurant reccomendations were the best Notably La Cazuela in santa Cruz and El Palmar at Valle Gran Rey on La Gomera ( in my view a much nicer place than the shanty town under construction feel of San Sebastian).Highly reccomended.

After recently arriving home from a fantastic trip to Florence (Siena and Pisa), I must say how positively useful my husband and I found this guide. It gave us up to date information on the best locations to visit (away from the tourist trail), information on the best times to visit important places of interest (with helpful hints) and, most important of all, where to dine. We didn't have a bad meal! We also found the walks listed, very useful. All in all, this was a fantstic guide and well worth the money! Thanks Lonely Planet!!

A good country guide. Jordan is a small country which has many sights to see, the book is not very comprehensive and only provides details of sights in a brief format, which suits me as I don't like to be have every detail thrown at me. As with all lonely Planet guides, this book is much more aimed at backpackers giving all the transport and budget details you'll need. I found a few details were significantly out of date and resulted in expensive taxi rides and some confused looks from the locals. Check the lonely planet website for updates. This book contains the usual Lonely Planet attributes of glaring ommissions, inaccuracies, strange recommendations and howling errors. And then there's the endless padding out of accommodation/restaurant listings to make up the weight. It feels like it has been rushed together, even though it's the third edition. However, there is still quite a lot of useful information that you may not necessairly find out elsewhere - the trouble is, you don't know if those bits are the accurate ones until you find out for yourself.

This book's a reasonable guide, but is eclipsed by the brilliantly written and hugely informative Bradt Guide. We took both books to Ethiopia (09/2006) and found the Bradt one to be far superior.
