Books : Book of Slang
I bought this book about 2 years ago and I think it's brilliant. A really good book as a slang dictionary with some lovely photos. At the end there's some nice poems by Patsy Manning, a good friend of Reg's. Well worth buying.

In the late sixties, when the popularity of "Bonnie and Clyde" at the box office ushered in a renewed interest in the period, this book was a compelling, concise account of a period when some of history's most ruthless criminals became cult heroes. From Machine Gun Kelley and John Dillinger to the Barrows and Pretty Boy Floyd, the Depression spawned its own brand of anti-heroes, placing them forever in a crude infamy of greed and murder. Toland is an excellent storyteller of the War era and plies his trade to new levels in this book. A highly recommended read to anyone interested in the period or exploits of some of American history's criminal element.

138.Godfather of the Kremlin: Life and Times of Boris Berezovsky by: Paul Klebnikov

Books : Godfather of the Kremlin: Life and Times of Boris Berezovsky
The late Paul Klebnikov has written as good a book on the murky and criminal side of Russian business as I will probably read for some time to come. His research into the business interests of Berezovsky is excellent and he provides the reader with a fascinating insight into the turbulent and violent Moscow of the 1990's. Highly recommended reading.

Books : The Way of the Wiseguy: True Stories from the FBI's Most Famous Undercover Agent
When I heard of the release of this book I knew I had to get it. I've been a fan of Mafia history for a good few years now and the original Donnie Brasco book of Pistone's life undercover in the Mafia had been a particular favourite of mine.

This book however, did not live upto the standard of the previous work. It was enjoyable though. It's a good easy read with some new interesting anecdotes. It's also quite a small read too. Half of the pages are title or blank pages (there's about 20 odd chapters). It didn't really provide anything new or useful about mob life to me and probably wouldn't to the avid Mafia reader.

The accompanying CD was quite dissapointing. I'm sure other FBI wiretranscripts could have been used, the ones on the ... Read More:
