Books : Food to Die for: Secrets from Kay Scarpetta's Kitchen
I have a number of cook books but I must say this is one of my favourites. The pictures of the different meals are presented lovingly with vibrance and colour.

At first when I received the book I was a bit overwhelmed with the receipes as the majority are Italian and I thought would be impossible. However you soon come to realise that you have a good mixture of receipes.Ones which need every day cupboard ingredients, to others which you may have to buy special but not impossible to find ingredients.

I believe this cookbook is great for giving new twists to old ideas, for instance I now grill fish marinated in Lime and pepper juice to give a slightly different taste to my meals. Not only does it help with everyday meals, ... Read More:

Books : Eating in Italy
When I arrived in Florence in June 1998, I did not even know the name Faith Heller Willinger.I came across the book Eating in Italy by chance while visiting a bookstore. It looked promising enough and I bought it. For the rest of my month in Northern Italy, this book became an essential guide. How else would I have known which gelato is the best in Venice? Which restaruant is really a must when you visit Sirmione in the lake district ? My secret for discovering Italy's best food was in following this book, both its "do's" and its "don'ts". When I failed to follow a "don't", I came to regret it. Having the book with us in the car was essential in making this visit a gastronomic experience. My only regret was that ... Read More:

Books : The Classic Food of Northern Italy (Great Cooks)
No doubt recipes are good. Just what it says is different than how dishes would be cooked in Italy. It is full of exotic recipes aimed to cheat the customer already kidnapped by supermarkets, glossy magazines, celeb chefs, entarteinment tv program pretending to be cooking program. At the same time many, perhaps most, of the basic italian recipes are simply absent.

Buy it if you know nothing about italian food, are happy to continue to know nothing, and want good recipes (not italian, but good).
If you look for italian food look elsewhere.

I loved the desserts in this book. Most are easy to make and taste gorgeous. The main course recipes were rather simple, but thats just my crib. I own the entire Foolproof Cookery series and I can say that they really are some of the best cookbooks for beginners, easy to understand and do what they say on the cover, i.e. make cooking foolproof indeed !

George Moudiotis has gathered a rich and varied collection of Greek recipes and presents them with a dgree of wit and humour very rare in such a book. This is one of my favourite cookery books. It is a ludicrous bargain at its price. Unlike other reviewers, however, I find myself rebalancing ingredients in some recipes - but then I would do that, I suspect, whoever wrote the book. It is a wonderfully enjoyable book, full of character and atmosphere.

Books : The Classic 1000 Italian Recipes
This recipe book is a superb addition to anyone's culinary library - clearly not every recipe will suit every person but it is inconceivable that you would not find a significant number of useful recipes in here and even if you found just one nugget, then considering the price, it would be well worth it.

The variety of recipes in any of the 1000 series is simply staggering - to say you are stuck for choice is an understatement - but this particular one includes a great many vegetarian dishes too.

Ok, so there are no photographs but against that, the books don't cost a fortune either and they are compact.

You really cannot go wrong with any of these recipe books and when you consider they cost little more than 1 issue ... Read More:
