I've read quite a few rock biographies - and this is one of the best.
As a fellow Geordie I had a soft-spot for Andy, although I always thought he was bit of an argumentative sod and so I expected this to be a bit of a bitch-fest.
I was wrong - he is frequently critical of himself, and, contrary to a review below does give embarrassing revelations about himself.
He clearly has some "issues" with Nick but gives him praise as well as criticism.
There's plenty of entertaining stories here - he gives a bit mroe detail on the drugs side of things than was known previously, although he seems to play down the groupie angle to an extent I find a bit suspicious.

Well written as well - you can actually tear through ... Read More:

This book purports to be research notes into his investigation of Torchwood by a Warren Martyn which Torchwood has prevented from being published and is now locked up in the Torchwood basement as information for employees only.

In fact this book has been compiled by Doctor Who writer Gary Russell (with acknowledgements to other Torchwood writers such as James Moran and Joseph Lidster amongst others) from material from the BBC's Torchwood websites as well as original writing. Rather than being a straight guide to what happened in each episode (Series 1 & 2, and Lost Souls) the book uses fictitious archive notes, personnel forms, photographs, newspaper clippings and staff memos to provide additional background information to each ... Read by Bill, with a warmth that will captivate you from the first sentence, this enchanting CD [or book]is irresistible and many years in the coming. I used to work for BBC Scotland and in the hours that followed the radio broadcast of Bill's stories, we were flooded with calls from listeners desperate to purchase them in a book, or on CD. Not lost in detail, Bill's tales can understood and enjoyed by all members of the family, and should be. Enjoy but pace yourself, if you can!

Got to be honest here, haven't read nor do I intend to but I feel compelled to put some thoughts down here.
Why would anyone want to read about a self-obsessed, talentless moron, with cretinous views about everything that simply scream idiocy everytime she appears in print or on TV????
I'm not a snob, I come from Essex & am proud of the fact, but I find it offensive in the extreme that this no-one is being given space to air her views, life, whatever. Yes, I haven't read it, no I don't feel I'm prejudging - read what she says in the press, you'll get my drift.
Please, don't give this person any other reason to open her mouth, write anything, appear anymore, anywhere; the sooner we all stop giving these people the oxygen of publicity, ... Read More:

I have read better and more comprehensive biographies of Cash on magazine specials.

The book is quite superficial and quite frankly, I doubt many people care how many grandchildren Cash had.

If you were looking for some insights into what inspired the Man in Black you are better off looking elsewhere.

Paul Balmer manages to write a fantastic book about a fantastic creation, with new interviews and pics of all your favourite guitarists/guitars.

he even manages to put aside his love of the Fender Stratocaster - for evidence of this love, see the Haynes Stratocaster manual, another AMAZING book!

in short, this book will tell you everything you need to know about owning and maintaining a Les Paul. it won't, however, make you feel any better about not owning a 1959 Les Paul Standard. i nearly cried at some of the pictures in this book...

What a little gem this is. I can't believe this passed me by (well it was on the radio so that's probably why). This is probably better than anything I have seen on TV for the last couple of years. I must admit that I haven't seen the HBO TV series and I'm not sure if I really want to because this is so good that I don't want to be disappointed.

For those of you who don't know, Flight of the Conchords are a real band, they even have an album out on the sub pop label. Though this radio series is a fictitious account of their attempt to break into the UK scene. They are described as a novelty band and indeed their songs are very funny but the music is still good as well. The only thing I can compare them to are Tenacious D but then they aren't really like that. ... Read More:

I first got into Led Zep somewhere between their third and forth album, reading music magazines `Sounds` and `New Musical Express for years I knew almost everything about the group even though , they didnt talk to the press unless they had something big to discuss! I stopped buying the press weekleys after `Sounds` scribe Geoff (deaf) Barton started Kerrang!. so back to this book, yes its good and although I have seen 95% of the photos and read 95% of the interviews etc . there is a comprehensive review of each album and lots of informative information. still good to have this kind of scrap book style large heavy book! there are a lot more bands out there that should follow this format..Its also great to see a lot of bootleg covers, albums I know about but have never seen. The appeal of this book for me actually came from Sergeant appearing on Have I Got News For You which made me think he was actually rather funny and certainly his autobiography would be worth reading.

On reading it, I would have to admit that as autobiographies go, this one is a bit lacking - there's not really that much to say that about a political reporter that makes the book a page turner. However, I did still enjoy reading it as it provided an insight into the lifestyle that is a reporter who has to provide a summary of a huge news story in 10 seconds (hence the title) as well as how the BBC is organised and managed.

On the critical side, there's too much on the personal side in this book, notably about Sergeant's relationship with his parents. This detracts ... Read More:

If you are looking for a single carol book that will cover the centuries and countries, contain all of the best-loved carols in eminently singable arrangements, and provide you with excellent repertoire for years to come, then look no further. This is it.

It's excellent value for money, and should be on every choir-master and chorister's shelf.

My favourite arrangement in it has to be David Willcocks' fantastic version of "Lo, he comes, with clouds descending" which has a simply sublime final verse.

Wonderful stuff.
