My daughter has loved this book from the day she got it at 18months. It is still a firm favourite and I never get tired of reading it. How she is talking she tells me what is coming before I turn the page and I awlays receive a big hug on the final page. I totaly recommend 5stars!

I am on the 7th day of this book having read it every day for the last week.

Of course, on day 1 I was very excited about the week ahead and getting to grips with life and taking on a more positive attitude. Although I still feel this is my intention, I found the book overall to be disappointing.

For one, there is too much to read each day! I have not been working this week - I have been on holiday and had a few other things to do but not much and it has taken the best part of all day to read each chapter and do the exercises. I mean it takes an hour to listen to the CD alone. (Half hour in morning, half hour in evening) If I had been doing an 8 hour working day, plus travel time, plus dinner and every other thing life ... Too many mistakes made this potentially excellent sequel into a farce.
While I enjoyed the first book (Kommandant's Girl) immensely I found that The Diplomat's Wife was flat with unbelievable characters and was badly researched. It was hard to concentrate on the story while being annoyed with small details which were wrong (even in the late 1940's there is no way that Luton Airport could be reached from central London in twenty-five minutes by road!), Americanisations used in the speech of supposedly English characters and the English using metric weights and measurements. Most of us still avoid that even now thirty odd years after it was officially introduced but it certainly wasn't common usage then. Call me picky but..!

Great little book as are all the Black Lace series and this one doesn't disappoint. The stories are red hot and believable and will certainly get the pulse racing. Also well worth looking at is Quickies Bk. 2. And for the real connoisseur of the erotic, look at Suzie Van Aartman's '100 Percent Erotica' it oozes pure ecstasy.

I was given this book as a birthday present and was really looking forward to reading it after having enjoyed previous Jane Green novels and generally being a fan of easy to read 'chick-lit' but I was left a bit disappointed.
I found myself not really caring about what happened to any of the characters - except Paul and Anna who I liked.
Like other reviewers, I thought that the idea of old friends getting back in touch was a good one but so much more could have been done. In the end I just skip-read it really quickly to get it finished.

I realise that the last part in this absorbing triolgy had to be finsihed off by Stella Gemmell following David's untimely death. Although other reviewers suggest that this is seemless, I beg to dissagree. The final part of the triolgy is well crafted and brings a touch of refreshing, imagined "realism" to the tale of Troy's downfall. However, the storyline falls flat towards the end. Clearly, David Gemmell had a longer work in mind. Perhaps, even another book or series of books, charting the mythical rise of Rome (the "Seven Hills" of his story) in the manner of the Aeneid, just as the Trojan War triolgy is broadly based on the Iliad. We shall never know and that is a shame because that story is one which would have benefited from a re-telling by someone with David Gemmell's ... Read More:

What a great read this is.

It is amazing to have such an insight into the man who may soon be President of the USA, arguably still the most powerful position in the world. This book was written even before he became a Senator, I'm sure a lot of what he has written would be edited out if it was published today!

What is so incredible, and I think what makes him seem so personable, is that he comes across as just another ordinary guy. He doesn't come from a famous or affluent background. He talks so openly about the difficulties of growing up as a black man, confused about his origins and what they mean. He grew up in Indonesia and Hawaii... and then worked for very little money as a community organiser. And now he's running for President!

The Woods

Paul Copeland is a county prosecutor who was at a summer camp twenty years ago where four children were murdered and this has come back to haunt him and threaten his career.

Far too much of the first half of the novel is taken up with a court case of date rape that seems to belong to another novel, the purpose solely to enable the wealthy father of the accused youngsters to pry into Copeland's past. Exactly the same purpose could have been achieved without the long irrelevant court scenes slowing down the pace of the novel to a point where I nearly gave up.

However after this initial aberration the plot gains pace and with good character development I thoroughly enjoyed my first (and probably not the best) Coben novel.

This is a book to turn to for help on every aspect of parenting small children. It's well laid out, easy to find specific information, and concise without being dry. It covers everything from developmental stages, to healthy eating (including recipe ideas), childhood diseases, immunisation and first aid, helping your child develop ethics and good values. It's a hefty tome, reflecting a vast amount of knowledge gathered by the two authors over many years, and it was my crutch!

You may want to buy additional guides to parenting if you are struggling with a particular aspect of parenting, particularly the emotional and behavioural aspects, but this may be the one book that you turn to constantly until your child is 3.

Having an interest in the Spanish civil war and liking crime novels, i thought this would be just right, but found it all wrong.Yet another book that relies, in the plot, on improbable coincidences that feel like a deception, an easy way out. Life in postwar Madrid does not seem real, although it may be well-researched. The writing is overblown - too many adjectives, too many unnecessary awkward details: (his eyes went flickering over the desk...)and the characters talk in a kind of brief-encounter-speak, which soon palls. Worst of all, there is no real pace in the book, or drive to find out what is going to happen next to the uninteresting characters. The reviews quoted on the cover are baffling, and just show that you shouldn't believe everything you read in the newspapers...
