My 2.5 year old got this for her 2nd birthday as our introduction to Julia Donaldson and it is a firm favourite! She loves the rhymes and the pictures, and knows it word for word! I don't get bored of reading it either, which is usually a good sign!

This didn't promise to be a "fun" read but I must admit after reading about a third of it I felt an overwhelming weariness with it. In the end I didnt finish it. It's possible I missed the point.

I have just listened to the audio version of this book and was deeply moved. It was very interesting to hear about her life and John Thaws life in the industry, but the sections inbetween when she documents his illness, death and her life after was so moving. My father died last year and my mother was married for over 50 years during which they were inseperable. This book has given me some idea how she is feeling at the moment and I intend to buy it for her as birthday present. Sheila has gone through such sorrow all her life with the spector of cancer destroying many people close to her. Sheila read the book and you can feel the strengh of feeling through her words. Grumpy old woman you are not Sheila.

I actually just read this for the second time before posting a review and liked it slightly better than I did the first time. The writing's elegant but light and therefore easy to read but... I don't believe in Pippa Lee, she's not a real person, and if she were, she's not somebody I'd want to know. There's not really much of a plot, and what there is ties up far too conveniently at the end with none of the moral dilemma which would have made it interesting - although given Pippa's previous track record, there wouldn't have been much of a dilemma anyway. It's OK but doesn't hook you in emotionally, I can't believe they're making a film of it.

I'm not sure why this book has such bad reviews its not as good as the devil wear prada and its not anything we haven't seen many times before but it was still readable. Yes the stock characters are tedious and nothing truly shocking occured but its fine if you have a couple hours spare and do not want to tax yourself.

This more than just a description of a museum. This is also a journey into the history of the natural sciences and a part biography as well. Well illustarted, Richard Fortey describes an institution that is trying hard (and succeeding if the new Darwin Centre is any guide)to move with the times, make science accesible to the public, yet has more going on behind the scenes than we could ever give credit. Anyone who lives in or visits London should pay more than one visit to this marvelous place, and thanks to this book they will be well briefed as to what goes and has gone on there.

Uncle Bob (Robert C. Martin) is a recognized expert in todays world of software development. His books "Agile Software Development: Principles, Patterns and Practices" and "Agile Principles, Patterns and Practices in C#" should by now be well known by the majority of serious java and C# developers. I read the latter last year, and I was blown away by Uncle Bob's insight into the process of writing software in a manner, that more or less guarantees success for both the customer and the development company. When "Clean Code" was published I rushed to buy it, and again I am in awe!
