I was given this study guide to use when revising for my English Litrature GCSE exam.
I found the tips and the generalisation very very useful and the excercises given to complete were of use, unlike some guides that give difficult offputting questions.
The language within the guide is not too simple and not to complex, which makes it an ideal guide as it does not intimidate or put one off revising.
I like the guide's size aswell, as it was easy to store in a small bag meaning that it was always availible for referance if I had a few minutes spare.
I achieved an A grade using this guide in the 2007 GCSE exam, so I would highly reccommend purchasing this guide for the English Lit exam.

This book is a collection of perfect poems. I enjoyed most of them, however, some of the long ones made me a bit bored. My favourite poem is called `Butter and Margarine' because it is very funny and (kind of) original. It starts with: `Row, Row, Row your Boat, Gently down the Stream, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily'. Then it goes on to say `Life is but a - no it's not, it's margarine!' It is a bit of a joke but then again most of Michael Rosen (the poet)'s poems are hilarious! I would really rate this book 7/ 10 and would strongly recommend it to anyone in the need of a good laugh!

This is story is narrated as Mello doing a report about a case L told to him & gave him the notes for. All the characters in this story are already dead, so Mello gives his interpretation, while inserting open-ending questions about things he can only speculate on to get the reader thinking, which is a clever story convention.

The story is filled with the usual logic bending you expect from L, as well as enough gore, comedy and freaky behaviour to keep you hooked.

It mainly resolves around two characters, FBI Agent Naomi and private investigate Ryuzaki, with L mainly a voice through a phone or computer. They work together to solve the puzzles serial killer BB has left at his crime scenes before he reaches his last ... Read More:

This book is quite light-hearted, and as another review says, probably contains everything you need to pass- get a C grade. It doesn't, however, contain the information i would personally say you need for the A*-B Therefore is better for foundation. I have now bought the York Notes revision book, which is much better for higher grades!!!

I have read Hamlet, however it was not this edition. I have seen these editions in store and they are rather tatty looking, the paper is recycled so that's to be expected. These types of books suit people who are limited in cash perhaps about to board a plane and need something to read. If your a student, your teacher will have already have bought specific books prescribed by the examining board - if this is the case do so and purchase that copy because this does not have notes to explain language or anything.

The play itself is a wonderful piece of literature concerned by deception, political power, and action vs. inaction, perceived madness and religion. Before reading it (if you studying) you should get context about Denmark (where the play ... Read More:

Glad to see this is still available. Spike -- how we miss him. Puckoon although rambling at times is so funny - the rambling in some ways makes it funnier. The movie based on the book is a must - buy both. Although there is a lot missing in the movie compared with the book it dosn't detract -they did a great job of getting a good plot in the movie (takes 2 or 3 viewings to get it - buts that the fun of it.
So much Goon type humour in the book(and movie) but with lots more os Spikes unique way of finding mundane ordinary things in life so funny - especially blowing apart the pomposity of officaldom

Volume 5 of the hit Death Note manga keeps up the pace in a fantastic way.
Now Light (Kira) is at the edge of his plans the police and L have to use all of there wits to out beat Light in someway. But this proves harder than they think as Light has one ace up this sleve.

As always the fantastic manga hits it right on the spot.

For all you death note readers just keep on going.

This critical study of The Great Gatsby not only gives an excellent feel of the time the novel itself was written (see the chapters on The Jazz Age, and The Post-War Voice), but explores in depth themes and issues emerging from the text. Imagery such as death and ghosts, the colours gold and white, and the sea, are all discussed, as is the relationship between the four main scenes where the action takes place. As you would expect, the main characters themselves, and what they represent, are looked at in detail, and Gatsby himself is given a thorough analysis, with dedicated sections on, for example, his mysterious past and the destructive nature of his dream and his aspirations. In addition, this study also offers separate sections on the women characters and their role in ... Read More:

If you're the kind of person who is a shallow label-whore and has plenty of money to throw away on high fashion and jewellery, shoes and handbags rule your world, and you wish to impress the same brainless ideals upon your children, thus turning into spoilt little sh*ts just like yourself, then this book is for you.

So why somebody purchased this for me, i'll never know. It screams of an insult to be perfectly honest. I found it extremely offensive.

Its funny how a lot of the industry involved which is being preached and sold to children in nursery rhyme form has so much to account for regarding child labour and conflict diamond atrocities.

So yes, if your friend is as described above, by all means buy this book.

Or you ... Read More:
