Great story. This illustrates much in human behaviour around "witch hunts", be this communism, witchcraft, or whatever.

It is NOT historical fact, but a view of the small-town thinking, suspicious, back-stabbing, jealousy and greedy nature of characters which can be surfaced by opportunity. Wonderful scenes of hysteria which made me laugh too.

Easy to follow, but with something to dig your teeth into.

This is not simply a book of poetry written by a female writer. This is real, and raw. The emotion evoked and shared between reader and poet is out of this world... we are let in to Plath's world and mind. Her fears, dreams, and desires.

I would recommend this collection of poetry to anyone.

I read this alongside Sylvia Plath's 'The Bell Jar', her only novel, and it is quite amazing how the two link. The same ideas are mused over, truly showing 'The Bell jar' as an autobiography of her own life, reflected in the character Esther Greenwood.

In ordering this copy of 'A Streetcar Named Desire,'i was primarily expecting this book to be purely a textual dialogue of the play. Although after recieving the book (with haste- i don't hesitate to add), i was pleasantly surprised to encounter aids and prompts explaining in detail the situations and literary devices used to create such an effect. I totally believe that this book is a must have for those studying the american book at AS Level, or at any level for that matter!

This book is a collection of article Boris has written elsewhere. I agree with the other reviewer who said it would help the reader for the date to appear next to each article.

I liked Boris' book and the fact that he pokes fun at those who take themselves too seriously. Also his willingness to laugh at himself is refreshing, especially in a politician! It must be difficult for him to being a journalist and simultaneously a politician, for him to not lose his objectivity but he walks this tightrope fairly well....and he is willing to criticise the Tories (to an extent!).

This really is one of the best accounts of the Great War that I've read. Given all that I've heard about this book, that wasn't so much of a surprise - what was, however, was that well before Graves joined the army about mid-way through the book I was already solidly engrossed.

Robert Graves writes with a real charm and gentle humour, belying an often quite scathing satirical leaning, and his account of his early home life and upbringing is beautiful, a real evocation of a time now lost forever. The fact that he's half-german heartbreakingly foreshadows later events, as he spends childhood holidays playing in fairytale German castles with German uncles and nephews, men he is destined one day to try to kill on the battlefields of France. It's a pertinent ... Read More:

Having studied this play for GCSE, I can safely say it was one of the better texts, although the characters are not easy to relate to the reader can identify with many of their traits and it is from this that the reader can sympathise with the characters and their situation.

Generally this will be adored by girls and dreaded by boys. For A-level we had been given Duffy to study, and my heart sank. The year had been focused mainly on feminist works, now for the modern take.

Simplistic writings that I can imagine a beginner poet practicing with, but not the work of an experienced published, older writer. Every literature student will HAVE to encounter this women's dreary work at some point, though i feel it only fitting for at most younger students (primary for instance) settling them into poetry, getting a grasp and primitive understanding of how it all works. I just wish that i wasn't subjected to it, and I don't understand what motive our education system has for doing this to an entire generation of students. If this is some type of endurance ... If you only show your children one poem, make sure it's this one. The touching and powerful Arthurian legend is brought to life miraculously in this rendition by Simon Armitage, which (unlike previous translations) will never leave you scratching your head and saying "What does that mean?" Despite retaining the strange and lovely alliterative verse of the original, the poem is lucid, accessible, fresh and modern. Here is a poem for ordinary people, not just Medievalists and English students.

Armitage adds a nice introduction, suggesting how we can find a contemporary resonance in the poem. Gawain's story is not merely an exploration of Christian morality, but also, through vivid imagery of the natural world, aims to remind us of our own relationship with our nature and with nature ... Having been collecting comics for 25 years and owning thousands I consider myself to have a wide variety of examples of what makes a good strip. This book does not constitute one of these examples, as although the art is good it is the poor content that brings me to this conclusion.

The most annoying thing for me was the style of the letterer for the whole book, everything is in caps SO IT LOOKS LIKE EVERYONE IS SHOUTING ALL THE TIME. Poor choice not to use lowercase at all and just think of an annoying board post or email you have ever received from someone who types in caps. Large sections of Last Voyage of the Infinite Succor and Breaking Quarantine don't have any dialogue anyway, so that doesn't apply there.

Last Voyage is the longest story and I was confused by ... Read More:
