Beautiful cards that connect on a spiritual level offering knowledge and comfort.

They have provoded me with answers and reassurance to recent traumatic circumstances and although I believe in Angels, I was sceptical about Angel cards ---
However they deliver the answers or point the way

Books : Dance Me to the End of Love (Art & Poetry)
All Cohen fans regularly face that moment when someone says ... "But isn't Cohen just melancholy ?", often they'll drag out the old phrase of 'music for suicides'. We know that these people have never knowingly listened to Cohen and are merely regurgitating the urban myth. How do you educate these people and turn them around ?

You have just one track to open the window on the humour and artistry of Cohen. So far I have never failed to open someone's eyes with 'Dance Me To The End Of Love', especially the live version. The flowing magical romance of the music strikes deep in to the psyche of anyone who listens. Then as you begin to understand the music, this book with the captivating images from a great romantic artist merges ... Read More:

Look back in Anger is not only a classic of the British theatre, it also had reverbatory effects around the world upon its release in the 1950s. The play features some of the most vivious confrontations and acidic language I have ever read, and is ideal material for male and female monologues. Jimmy, the protagonist, has perplexed audiences and directors alike - how can any woman stand to live with him, let alone be drawn back to him after seemingly 'escaping'? But that is the lure of Jimmy's character - his sheer charisma. He is a James Dean for the English middle-classes, without the stunning looks, but with more reasons to rebel. The imagery of the play is at once subtle and exciting: Osborne is a master at creating visual and audio contradictions. ... Read More:

I didn't watch the TV series so I thought this was just going to be a humerous read. However, there is a little (OK only a little) depth behind the book. Yes, it's funny to relate to the author's ranting, but it also makes you realise the context of some of your frustrations with the world. It's OK to be a grumpy man; it's a phase of life when you realise the world isn't as good a place as you were brought up to hope for.

I read this book at the same time as I was reading "You can't afford the luxury of a negative thought", and this provided a nice counterpoint. To be honest I got more out of grumpy old men than out of that 'self-help' book.

So, funny AND self-help: what more could you want for in a book?

It may seem a minor point but no reputable publisher should be allowed to get away with print this small - it's about half the size of 'Writing Home' and severely marred my reading pleasure. Given the likely average age of the readership for a book like this you'd think Bennett in particular would insist on something big enough for his Gran to read. Why do they do it? Profit? Laziness? It certainly shows contempt for the reading public, but then I forget, this is Faber & Faber so that is to be expected. 'Bit small, eh? Well, screw up your eyes and be grateful - it's high art is that'.

York Notes books are an excellent choice for GCSE student, Advanced students or even Degree student like myself. This book explains everything you need to know about the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. It includes study methods, an introduction to the text, summaries of each chapter with critical notes, themes and techniques of the novel, textual analysis of key passages by an acknowledged literature expert, author biograpghy, historical and literary background, modern and historical approaches, a chronology and a glossary of literary terms. Excellent!

If only every book in the Very Short Introduction-series was written as lucidly as this volume I would buy them all without hesitation.

The author does a miraculous job of sorting out the maze of the field of Litterary Science which has argurably been to eager in its choice of theory for the past 50-60 years. After reading this volume, however, you will have an adequate overview of the field and it will be within your possession to choose amongst the theories which interest you.

Highly recommended!

Although still a marvellous read the previous volume of Death Note had something of a filler feel to it but thankfully this sixth volume sees this excellent manga series back on top form. Having identified that the new Kira is among seven individuals working for Yotsuba Light, L and the rest of the taskforce must find a way to get the evidence of how Kira kills his victims before the move in on the seven. When Misa is sent to get close to the seven the Shinigami Rem complicates things by revealing itself to her and Misa comes up with a plan of her own.

This volume is probably one of my favourite to date with some great action and some nice plot twists. It is also good seeing the Shinigami again after there brief hiatus in the last volume, and we also learn ... Read More:

This is an important book that everyone should read. I would give it twenty stars if I could.

I've long been interested in both art and comic books (I have collected them for over 50 years). While the library shelves are full of wonderful books that explain what traditional artists are trying to do and why they succeed, I've often found the books to be pretty boring. In recent years, such books have gotten bogged down into abstruse language that is much less appealing than the art which is the subject.

But in those years, I've never seen anything that was very helpful in discussing the rules of comic art, except some books about pop art when that was popular that examined how the pop art was different from comic art. Naturally, I was blown away when ... Read More:

Where here the blunt Aussie frankness that Germaine Greer has celebrated and been respected for all of her life?
When writing history, it is sometimes almost acceptable to now and then fill in gaps by positing things to make sense of an action, but this disingenuous offering is the worst `history' book I have ever read in that it is 99% conjecture - positing - and 1% truism.
After 400 pages we know exactly nothing more about Shakespeare or his wife, than we did - than anybody did - before. Using highly irritating devices like: `if... we might suppose... it is not inconceivable... I would argue...' etc. ad nauseam, Greer attempts to create a woman whom she can find sympathy with, for no other reason than to defend her against the criticisms of other historians who clearly ...
