Books : Anne Sexton Reads: Selections of Her Poetry Including "Little Girl", "My String Bean", "My Lovely Woman"
This recording, made a few short months before Sexton's death, is a remarkable document for anyone interested in Sexton, confessional poetry, or American literature in general. The selection of poems is at once characteristic of Sexton's work without becoming overly monotonous in tone or subject, but it is really the sound of the author's own voice that makes the poetry come alive. Sexton's dark voice adds an element of authenticity to these poems that is perhaps lost when they are read silently. Her convincing reading is truly a testament to her own tortured yet beautifully rendered artistic vision.

Books : The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr.Hyde: Starring Tom Fleming & Alexander Morton
The most outstanding Dramatization ever of Stevenson's 'The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde'. In this recreation of Stevenson's masterpiece, Robert Forrest brings alive the darkest interpretation of the human soul ever conceived. In this version the story it is relocated in Edinborough - Stevenson's home town- and encapsulates the 'old town', 'new town' division of deprivation and disease on one side and the other civilized and proper. With the introduction of a new omniscient character in the narrative, Forrest reinterpretation into the medium of radio is a complete success. This is truly a unique auditory experience.

Books : The Whitsun Weddings (Penguin/Faber audiobooks)

Looking at the previous reviews I find it quite adverse that someone would condemn a book of poetry because it isn't 'perky' enough. I thought poetry was about so much more than just lifting the spirits.

I myself am 17, studying The Whitsun Weddings for my AS level. Incontestably, it is of a depressive nature, but I do not view this as a possible criticism of the book. This is the very thing that makes it a worthwhile read. I think his work is very enjoyable. With his arrogance constantly juxaposed with his feelings ... Read More:
