'Stopping by woods on a snowy evening' was absolutely destroyed by the intrusive music! As the poem is about
' suicide ' , I nearly jumped off the nearest cliff(lol)because of the awful music which shouldn't be there!

186.Hairy Tales and Nursery Crimes (Tempo Childrens Classics) by: Michael Rosen

Books : Hairy Tales and Nursery Crimes (Tempo Childrens Classics)
The first time I came across this book must've been about 13 years ago, I was doing ancillary work for a primary school, helping children to read.
I have to say it was quite a challenge as I would have to stop and dry my eyes. Rosen is a great story teller and puts such a wonderful twist in each tale, based as they are on popular stories we remember when we were young. He tells each story and recounts each rhyme magically but with much more desired results that would have you coming back for more.

Those of you with weak bladders beware!

I'm almost afraid to pop the audio book in my stereo!

187.The Duchess of Malfi (abridged version) by: John Webster
April 22, 1996
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Books : The Duchess of Malfi (abridged version)
Webster is scarcely known outside university departments and some enlightened secondary schools who have used him on A-level syllabuses. This is a pity...and a scandal. It means that he is vastly undervalued, if rated at all. His two main plays are great works of art and he is one of the very finest playwrights in existence. Read, and re-read.

188.Man and Superman (BBC Radio Collection) by: George Bernard Shaw
October 07, 1996
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

>>More Details
Books : Man and Superman (BBC Radio Collection)
This play of Shaw is about marriage and courting
and its relation to man and nature. Very witty,
but long. It clearly shows Shaw was way ahead of
his time, and well versed in scientific theories
like the 'selfish gene' of 21st century.

I had a hard time getting the audio version of the
play, it is pity BBC books go out of print and not
available widely. The audio version brought out
the subtle humour in the driver's accent and Mendoza's
poems, which may otherwise lost when reading from a book.

You will also like "Caesar and Cleopatra" (Caedmon) and
"The Doctor's Dilemma" (CBC), (Heartbreak House was boring).

190.King Richard II: A BBC Radio 3 Full-cast Dramatisation. Starring Sam West & Joss Ackland (BBC Radio Collection) by: William Shakespeare

Books : King Richard II: A BBC Radio 3 Full-cast Dramatisation. Starring Sam West & Joss Ackland (BBC Radio Collection)
Plays should be played - that almost goes without saying. And, therefore, plays that are only heard, and not seen, must be a disappointment? Not so, in this case. A stellar cast, at least one of whom went on to claim huge accolades when he took his role in this play to the stage, for the RSC (Samuel West as Richard II), guarantee that your ear will not stray from the speaker while this tape plays. There is enough here to dispense with visuals, the voices convey all you need to know, and if you didn't know Damien Lewis was English, then this is one way to find out. He's Henry Bolingbroke, by the way.

If you love Shakespeare; if you're not sure; if you know this play; if you don't but wish to follow "the histories" - just ... Read More:
