Books : You Wait Till I'm Older Than You!: Unabridged (Puffin Audiobooks)
This book is a collection of perfect poems. I enjoyed most of them, however, some of the long ones made me a bit bored. My favourite poem is called `Butter and Margarine' because it is very funny and (kind of) original. It starts with: `Row, Row, Row your Boat, Gently down the Stream, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily'. Then it goes on to say `Life is but a - no it's not, it's margarine!' It is a bit of a joke but then again most of Michael Rosen (the poet)'s poems are hilarious! I would really rate this book 7/ 10 and would strongly recommend it to anyone in the need of a good laugh!

In some respects I think it'd be rather presumptuous of me to attempt to review Shakespeare. Someone so well known and influential wouldn't benefit from my opinions on their work, plus there are more scholarly and concise reviews out there. But I can comment on these Arden versions. Of all the Shakespeare I've read I've always found the Arden copies to be well laid out and to have excellent commentary and notes on the text. They really add to your understanding of Shakespeares outstanding plays and introduce you to the depth in his work. They have superb paper quality and are bound well, withstanding repeated readings and intensive study. For your collection of Shakespeare you can't do much better than Arden publications, some are quite ... Read More:

This book's credibility can only be judged by the authenticity of the dialects recorded on the tape, which is accompanied by a pamphlet that has brief info on pitch and intonation, then the written text of the recordings. Unfortunately, the dialects on the recording are stereotypical, staged and horrendously bad - none of them are approaching any level of believability. This stands as fairly strong evidence to support the general observation that many American actors can't seem to manage any dialect other than the one they speak naturally. The readings are by Dr David Alan Stern, who states that he has been employed as a dialect coach in Hollywood to many stars who can't seem to speak in an assumed dialect (Mike Farrell, Jack Klugman, Geena ... 76.The Two Gentlemen of Verona: Unabridged (Arkangel) by: William Shakespeare

Books : The Two Gentlemen of Verona: Unabridged (Arkangel)
Although few would claim that Two Gentlemen of Verona is one of Shakespeare's greatest plays, it is well worth listening to in order to serve as a reference for the best of his romantic comedies. In essence, Two Gentlemen of Verona gives you a measuring stick to see the brilliance in the best works.

The play has the first of Shakespeare's many brave, resourceful and cross-dressing heroines, Julia.

Shakespeare always used his fools and clowns well to make serious statements about life and love, and to expose the folly of the nobles. Two Gentlemen of Verona has two very fine comic scenes featuring Launce. In one, he lists the qualities of a milk maid he has fallen in love with and helps us to see that love is blind and relative. ... Read More:

Books : Titus Andronicus: Unabridged (Arkangel)
Titus Andonicus is often regarded as something of a joke: crude juvenilia, bloodthirsty sensationalism, tasteless exploitation. Consequently, it has frequently been excised from the canon. TS Eliot, for one, thought it 'one of the stupidest and most uninspired plays ever written'. Here, in this Arden 3rd edition, Jonathan Bate unapologetically champions the play and argues that it is authentically Shakespearean, structurally complex and, contrary to Eliot, 'one of the dramatist's most inventive plays'.

Bate certainly makes a persuasive case. He combines an easy, conversational eloquence ('You don't have to be a card-carrying Freudian to see the sexual significance of ...') with penchant analysis. But this is not always an easy read, despite ... Read More:
