This is fascinating account of our politicians and our political process and contains a wealth of information. Paxman gets the ball rolling with an anecdote about a politician who visited his school when he was a schoolboy. Paxman thought that the politician was barking mad and by the sound of things he wasn't far wrong.

There is a huge wealth of information about the political process and the almost psychologically deranged individuals who exist at the centre of it.

One interesting anecdote was when Paxman rang up the House of Commons to ask for an appointment with the former PM, John Major, (this was when he was writing the book) and no one seems to have had the faintest idea how he (i.e. John Major) could be contacted. ... Read More:

Books : Politics 2nd ed (Palgrave Foundations)
I reckon this book is excellent: it contains lucid intellectual writing and covers exactly the right areas.

By wary that I may like so much, since no book on Politics can be without bias, because it's views (or at least it's perspectives on the debate) are similar to my own - and YMMV!

Other reviews say it's ideal for academic study - and it is. But in my case this book was the cause of me doing a formal course, not the result of it - and I think that says a lot =:-)

It's eminently readable - and I expect to be referring to it for a long time to come!

In conclusion, a high quality book, both in its construction and the writing within.

Books : A2 US Government and Politics Exam Revision Notes
This revision guide covers all the main topics that are studied at A-Level, and covers most of them in great depth. The book gives up to date, contempary examples that are invaluable to any sudent of US politcs at A-Level.

There is very little wrong with the guide itself; however it does not cover the comparative aspects of the course, nor does it include two of the topics studied at A-Level (civil rights and federalism), but apart from these it is well worth owning.

4 stars because it has spelling mistakes and some examples need more explaining but quite good. I was fortunate enough to have one given to me by my teacher. William Storey is an examiner and he often writes the questions for the Gov & Pol edexcel exam, so if you knew quite alot in the book you could pass very well.
