My daughter was brought this book last year for her 1st Birthday. It is now her all time favourite book. In fact when she wants to read a book, the cry is usually "Knock, knock! book". She loves the pop up croc at the end, and giggles with glee at it, every time.

It is a cunning book, as not only does this book entertains, but also educates, through the clever use of telling the time, in conjunction with Mr Croc's daily routine.

Cannot praise this book highly enough, and am now investing in the other books in the series, plus I am buying another copy of "Knock, Knock, Mr Croc" to give to my nephew for Christmas.

Go on, you know you want to buy it - you won't regret it!!

This book is a complete classic that will delight children from a very early age. We started with this book when our son was about eight months old and he has enjoyed it ever since. Each page has an animal hidden behind card doors and toddlers simply love opening the doors to reveal the animal behind. Once again these animals give scope for further fun with parents doing the sounds of the animals, which in time children will copy. We found that when we did the animal sounds our little boy would carefully study what sounds we made, leading to our total delight one day when we heard the sound of a dog coming from our little boy. Personally I feel that the pictures of the animals could be a little larger, filling more of the pages - but this ... Read More:

This is larger than most of Rod Campbell's other toddler books. It is A4 format and the pages are strong paper/thin card rather than the substantial board in most of his other books. For this reason alone it is not ideal for the youngest of children (I was happy for my children to have board books from about 9 months old). My 19 month old daughter is currently enjoying this book without causing major damage to it.

The content of the book isn't bad at all. There is a fair variety of well-known nursery rhymes, odd snatches of Campbell's own rhyming couplets, hide and seek games with the animals and simple descriptions of the pictures and their flaps. There are domestic, farm, and more exotic animals. Animal houses and their young are ... Read More:

This is by far our 9 month old son's favourite book. The pop ups are brilliant, the rhymes about the animals are nice to read, and the colours are lovely and bright. Our son has a favourite page (the bushbaby) and will turn the pages until he finds it!

This is a very good book for babies and toddlers. It has brightly coloured pictures and flaps for children to explore. I would recommend this book to anyone with young children.

I am not sure if the subject effects the content, but this was not the best pop up book in the series.

It just did not seem as imaginative or fun as the previous books.

Still a great learning tool for children though - for fun or for reference.

Books : I am Not Sleepy and I Will Not Go to Bed (Charlie and Lola)
Much has already been said about this lovely book so there is no need to re-cover the same ground. Lauren Child has a seemingly effortless ability to slip into a child's mind and create a storyline of fantasy-logic that makes perfect sense to the target audience. Moreover, the first-person narration from a child's perspective coupled with the absence of adults from the plot (reminiscent of "Peanuts") seem to keep proceedings sealed in a children's world and ensure that grown-ups never intrude and spoil the fun.

In my opinion the first three stories ("I Will Not Ever Never Eat a Tomato", this one and "I Am Too Absolutely Small For School") are the ones to buy as books; the later books work well on DVD but their origins as scripts for ... Read More:
