Chicken Licken is a great story for kids and keeps them entertained again and again. They love joining in with each part and trying out new voices for the characters. My class of 4 and 5 year olds just can't get enough of this book and if it encourages just one of them to buy a book and enjoy stories then it's done a good job.

This is an attractively put together book on the history and details of pirate life. I have been searching for a resource on the subject that presents information on pirates in such a way as to not seem tedious and boring, but instead inspiring and fun (which, as we all know--pirates are fun!). With all the interest sparked on the pillaging bands of men, and sometimes women, with recent films this volume is a must have for anyone with an interest in pirates. Of course, it would obviously appeal to children and is definitely appropriate for that tender age group, but adults can also find much to appreciate. Money for old rope is the expression that springs to mind. Rod Campbell has a real niche in the lift-the-flap book market. His books have generally been very popular in our house so I ordered this to add to the collection. Each page has a gift-wrapped flap with a picture of a present underneath. There is a small amount of text describing the present. If it wasn't for the illustrations of Christmas wrapping paper I would have thought I was re-reading "My Presents" which is fairly tedious to begin with. Still, the children like it. It adds a small amount of variety when it's brought out in December with the other Christmas stories.

I had read previous reviews on this book and was very disappointed when I received it. The potty in the book looks nothing like a typical potty and my daughter is not convinced. The tabs are not easy to pull, and if I left my daughter alone with this book, it would be in shreds in minutes. I also found it very patronising. Try 'I want my potty' instead - my daughter loves it, and it's much more fun to read for both of us.

This was my 6-year-old daughter's favourite birthday present. The book comes with card figures of the characters, with stands, and the book itself opens out to form a house of 4 rooms, with pop-up furniture. Each room has tabs to pull, to make the flowers grow, or open the curtains, etc. Cupboard doors open, and there is even a dressing gown for Poppy Cat to wear. There is a story in rhyme, about Poppy Cat's day, which I guess is aimed at younger children than my daughter, but she is far more interested in playing with the figures and flaps! The card figures and flaps do get bent if handled roughly, but for a careful child aged 4-6 who likes playing with dolls' houses etc., this is a brilliant gift.

My daughter loves this book. Lots of flaps of all sizes to lift up and doors to open. Great book to discuss with your child, as there is lots of things going on and animals to discover. My daughter got this book when she was 3, and now 1 year on still wants me to read it.

My daughter loves this book. Lots of flaps of all sizes to lift up and doors to open. Great book to discuss with your child, as there is lots of things going on and animals to discover. My daughter got this book when she was 3, and now 1 year on still wants me to read it.

This is a great book. My 17 month old loves carefully taking the birthday card from Lucky Ducky out of the envelope and putting it back again. Lots of flaps and tabs to pull but be careful of the balloons as they can easily be pulled off. For parents, Maisy's special birthday pants never ceases to make me smile! Definitely worth having in your Maisy collection.
