It's great to have a compliation set of these three stories, although you may have to read all of them at once. You just can't beat Nick Sharatt and these three traditional stories have been well told in rhyme for the youngest to enjoy but the older ones too. The flaps are study and urge you to open them, and the modern illustrations are a delight.

This is an amazing, beautiful book. It looks at the world as a garden, looking at plant life and in particular how different plants are used. Highlights include a page showing a garden with a pull-up that shows different plants and what they are used for; a page of lift the flaps showing fruits and vegetables growing and in the more familiar form (i.e. as bought in the shop); three pull out books that show how jeans, rubber tyres and paper are made; a fantastic pop-up of a cargo ship detailing where certain food stuffs come from and other interesting facts (like how much beer and rum sailors drank) and a beautiful pop-up of a flower arrangement with each flower described under a flap. My 17 month old some was given this book as a present which I'm happy about cause it is quite expensive for a book with only 5 pages!!! I agree with the reviewer above regarding the ages this book is aimed at too. On the one hand the noises are VERY loud and make my normally gregarious little boy jump and look worried when they go off and the pop ups are quite fragile (I've already and to fix 2) which would make it more suitable for slightly older children, but at the same time, the rhymes are very simple with only 6 lines on each page which might not be enough to keep an older childs attention. I orginally bought this book as a present for my nephew but haven't been able to part with it. Each page is full of delight and fun encouraging the exploration behind all the 'pop ups'to find the answers. Although I learnt nothing new (I'm over 60) a child would find plenty to make them open their eyes and see and understand that science is all around them from baking to music. I just wish this had been available when my children were little. I can't wait to have the excuse to buy the other books in the series.

My 5 year old got this book as a present. She loves it - there is so much to see and play with, and she enjoys the story too. We love it so much, we're buying it for my daughters friends.

Absolutely georgeous book, bought it for our daughter when she was 9 months old. She loved it from the day one. Now nearly 3 years old, we still regularly read it, many flaps have been torn off by now but that doesn't seem to make any difference to her, it still is one of her favourite books. SO wort money. Highly recommended.

I have never written a review before but i feel so strongly about these books that i am doing so;Rod Campbell's collection is fabulous! My little one reads them over and over again. They are very well strucutured and the text is simple to access. Every book has fun flaps to lift and is as entertaining as the next. A real bargain!
