191.Souls to Keep by: David L. Robbins

Books : Souls to Keep
This book is shallow with dialogue that is predictable and not well thought out. I bought this book near all the best sellers thinking, hmm, this looks interesting. The summary looked promising. What a disappointment. I kept throwing the book across the room due to frustration and disgust. I think all the people who wrote that this was an excellent book were PAID! I could not finish it! Do not waste your money.....

Books : Blood brothers (Studio scripts)
the only reason that i did not enjoy reading this book is because its very different to the current script of the musical blood brothers, there is and alternative ending in this book and only features the lyrics to one song: (marilyn monroe) the book is quite shot and misses a great deal out om the present day perfomance of blood brothers, do not buy if you are wanting to experience the laughter and great lines from the current outstanding performance of blood brothers.

I've had the pleasure of reading all the Masters of Rome series in order one after the other and I've found it a wonderful experience! I love McCullough's style of writing - she makes the whole period come to life and manages to get some great history into her work. Its obvious she's done tremendous research for all these books.

It's also obvious that she's very much in love with Caesar! I'd agree that he was an amazing human being - no doubt - but I have to say I could fall for McCullough's version of him myself - although I doubt he was as squeaky clean as she portrays him!!!

Highly recommended for anyone interested in the Roman republic and in politics in general.

Books : The Illustrated Alchemist: A Fable About Following Your Dream
This is an amazing book. It is a story of a young man who has a dream of hidden treasure. It is a book that alludes to that fact that all of us have a purpose and a dream. Yet many settle and give up their dream, and lose their passion for life. In this book it is stated again and again that each of us has our own Personal Legend, a quest; "When you pursue your personal legend the universe will conspire with you to make it happen." You will follow Santiago on his adventure and during the process be challenged to think about your goals and dreams and what you would have to do to pursue them.

This illustrated edition is a treasure.

196.Wilt in Nowhere by: Tom Sharpe

Books : Wilt in Nowhere
Having read Tom Sharpe over a number of years, I have always thoroughly enjoyed his writing and ascerbic wit. Unfortunately, this one falls far short of what has gone before. It is disjointed and simply not very funny overall.

197.Shadows of Empire by: Allan Massie

Books : Shadows of Empire
Allan Massie is a great novelist, and one who has received acclaim for good reason. He is able to blend a knowledge of history with a lucid writing quality, which creates a novel that is thoroughly engaging. However, this novel also has many problems, in that its use of discourse and representation is disappointing. The way in which the themes are explored is problematic, because it sets up representational structures that lead to a limiting exploration of character.

The use of Empire, female characters like the femme fatale Vanessa and parents which appear to be contradictory creates a disturbing social representation. This is further complicated by largely ignoring the period of history from the 1970's to the 1980's, and having ... Read More:

198.Shall We Tell the President? by: Jeffrey Archer

Books : Shall We Tell the President?
although the book claims to follow on from Kane and Abel and The Prodigal Daughter there is very little about the character of Florentyna Kane, so if you're looking to continue the saga you may be disappointed. That aside the book is excellent one that you just cannot put down, you have to keep turning the pages to find out if the agent succeeds in saving the president.

199.Scimitar SL-2 (Robinson, Patrick) by: Patrick Robinson

Books : Scimitar SL-2 (Robinson, Patrick)
This book is poor. I have read quite a few other Patrick Robinson books and have enjoyed them - but not this one.

The characters are paper thin stereotypes. Even the leading characters are one dimensional and predictable - there is zero character development. The authenticity was completely lost due to characters acting in unrealistic ways just to fit in with the story. I found myself not caring what happens, because I simply couldn't believe in the characters that made up the story.

This along with the story trundling along a very predictable path made the book a real chore to read. It is a real shame, because the 'What If' of the story had great potential.

I find it disconcerting that an experienced author can get a book ... Read More:

200.Valkyries by: Paulo Coelho

Books : Valkyries
This was the second of Paulo's books that I have read I loved it and couldn't put it down..I was gripped from the beginning as he and his wife were driving around in suburban America when suddenly they find the majestic mojave desert. I found the narritive wonderful and Coelho describes the desert heat, and cold and strange towns and stranger people and bizzare and life threatening experiences they had, of course including spiritual experiences without which Coelho's work would not seem complete. It is written in a very 'human' way as the author was frequently irritated and annoyed as well as awe inspired in this book and it is a easy to read account of a 40 day adventure.
