This book is an excellent introduction to an interesting but difficult subject. Filled with diagrams and colour dissection pictures I would highly recommend it as an accompaniment to a medical course in Neuroanatomy. At times the sentence structure could be clearer, but overall a very good investment for medics in their early career.

I have found this book to be an extremely useful guide for a rapid and comprehensive review of clinical presentations often encountered in general practice.I believe it is also a very useful aid to help one prepare for the MRCGP examination.Highly recommended.

This book gives a very interesting insight into how people can live with a bi-polar mind. The fact she is very successful and appears to cope with life might surprise some but then when you look below at some of the compulsions the reality of this illness shines through.

Yes the book is a bit over the place but that is how the mind works. This might help anyone who lives or knows anyone with this illness. It also gives a good insight into how difficult it is to medicate and why the patient might rebel from medication.

If you want an introduction to the world of someone whose mind doesn't tick quite the same as most people rather than or before getting medical books then please have a look at this one.

There is no doubt about it - "western style" diets cause heart disease, obesity, cancers, etc. The "dieases of civilisation" as they call them. But how any decent scientist can draw the conclusions they do in the China Study is beyond me.

The idea that animal products cause cancer and other diseases is rediculous. The foods in the Western Diet that cause the cancers, the heart diseases are the highly processed foods that we tend to eat. They are high in sugar or high in sugar and fat (the worst combo there is). They have no nutritional value you to them except empty calories - ice-cream, soft drinks, cakes, pastries, pasta, rice, etc.

You can't eat the above types of foods and expect to be healthy. Considering most ... Read More:

Not just a book on what to eat. Its much broader than that encompassing a run down on why the new low fat diet is in fact so bad for us and explains how the Health Industry, in the interests of profits, is so keen to push this diet and moreover ensure we stay ill.

I can only describe this particular edition of Wealth of Nations as a useful crash course on Adam Smith's discourse, mindful of the fact that there were five editions of this historically significant work. But then that's the beauty of this condensed compendium.

Most editions available in the market draw on Smith's Wealth of Nation Volume I (Of the causes of improvement), Volume II (Of the Nature, Accumulation, and Employment of Stock) and Volume III (Of the different Progress of Opulence in different Nations) at the most. However, this edition contains healthy inclusions from Book IV (Of Systems of political Economy) and Book V (Of the Revenue of the Sovereign or Commonwealth). For this alone, the editor Kathryn Sutherland deserves credit. ... Read More:

This is an excellent book; very well written for either the layman or the more scientific-minded folk. It is key to explaining thyroid disorders and most importantly as other reviews have mentioned, it covers that key 'adrenal' connection.

Having recently been given results for 'low thyroid' I will be arming myself with the information in this book while I try and determine the diagnosis and treatment.

5 straight forward chapters detailing key elements of ward working. Some chapters may seem like `common sense' i.e `know who your patients are' but a good reminder of the basics.

This book is very black and white, blunt at times yet informative with no room for misunderstandings.

Whilst some information you would expect the qualified Nurse to know, (integrated care pathways and interviewing the patient), but for newly qualifieds or those lacking experience / confidence there is lots of information on the `basics' - observations, monitoring etc with abbreviations explaining what they mean and why they are used.

Excellent sections detail all major anatomical and physiological systems in the body detailing features, common disorders, treatments ... Read More:
