This is very much like Soros's other books: a mix of (his own) Philosophy in PART I, and its possible applicability to the Finance markets of the time in PART II. If you like Taleb's mix of Philosophy and Finance in Fooled by Randomness: The Hidden Role of Chance in Life and in the Markets and The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable then you'll Soros's approach. If you're looking to emulate Soros's success, this book doesn't tell you how to do this in concrete steps. As a med student..i found that this book covered basically anything i have needed to know in a simple..easy to understand fashion. Everyone i have spoken to has a copy of this book..and uses it on at least a weekly basis. The book covers material from the very basics to the complex..and managed to acheive this without being patronising or condescending..all in all a great book

What an amazing read. If you are new to DSLR or photography in general and you have the D40/X you must own this book. Full of concise step by step easy to read instructions on getting the most out of your camera. I can't put it down. Learn how to use the basic dials on your camera and take great shots. Then when you feel more comfortable with it move on to more indepth actions on exposure, lighting, composition etc. Each chapter lets you feel your way in to the subject so you don't feel rushed. This allows you to understand everything easier and that way you feel like you are actually learning something and remembering it. You really can't do without this book. An amazing read. I bought this book to help my struggling son with his phonics. He is in an independant learning group for support, so this was for me to help him at home and I'm glad I spent the money on it as it has helped no end. There are lots of pages at the back for you to copy and give your child to do. There are lots of helpful hints and tips to encourage and help your child.

I have read a number of books in the overcoming series and they were all helpful. This book addresses depression in a kind, understanding and compassionate way. It looks at things that I never understood about depression, such as issues around perfectionism and anger. I was recommended to the overcoming books by a friend ... I could honestly say they have been a lifesaver in difficult times and I wouldn't hesitate in passing on that recommendation.

It spoke volumes that, while other lecturers' classes were sporadically attended, it was difficult to get a seat in Geoff's classes! This man is an inspirational teacher and it comes across in his writing, which is full of easy-to-follow concepts and examples. If you aspire to be an inspirational teacher too, or if you're just trying to find ways in which to get through the day a bit more easily, then you need this book on your shelves.

It covers all the most asked medical interview questions as well as some thought provoking ethical and difficult situation questions. It guides you through what points to include as well as sample answers for each of the 151 questions. However it also provides the information in such a way that is provokes you into thought and you come up with answers better than the sample ones.
